Yeah, I totally forgot about those Woon thanks, and that proves my point. Even an economy that's stuck in the mud, it is really hard to keep track of developments in just Midtown.

And what's amazing is that Hyatt Times Square and 1715 Broadway have just gotten out of the ground within the last couple of weeks. We might be headed for another Midtown building boom.

You forgot 2 and 3 WTC, 29 flatbush av, and the height of 1715 broadway in your list is wrong. It's 218m not 229m. (see the details of this topic)

Several articles and CTBUH confirm that this tower is 753ft (229,5m) tall. See here: http://buildingdb.ctbuh.org/building...ilding_id=9786

Quote:
Height: Architectural 229.5 meter / 753 feet

Fortunately, the one such structure that used to inhabit 1717 Broadway, at the northwest corner of 54th Street, has been razed, and in its stead a new 752-foot Marriott is scheduled to rise
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/10/re...2&ref=business

Quote:
Mr. Fox said this claim was accurate, noting that the new Marriott building, expected to reach almost 753 feet, would exceed the height of the Four Seasons Hotel on the north side of 57th Street between Madison and Park Avenues, which is 52 stories, or 682 feet high.

Then why did nobody ever request a title change?

Look at the previous page: Post 42 (My post)

NOTE ... I put on the list projects that are being built. WTC 2 and 3 may be being built, but only up to street level (until they find a tenant.) And out of these projects, I forgot to put the same building that is being built on this block only 8 Avenue (250 West 55th Street ).

And sorry to the staff of Brooklyn, but just put the projects on the island of Manhattan. LOL

Can someone show the foot print of this project. Went by today and there are THREE cranes working on this site spreading from Broadway to Eigth Avenue. Is this thing really that big?

If you google map it, this building is on the north west corner of the intersection of 54th and Broadway. What you saw were probably some cranes for 250 W 55th St which is on the same block as this but is on 8th avenue between 55th and 54th.

So again returning to the google maps view, this building is in the bottom right corner of the block, or it's just the smaller of the two construction sites. Hope that makes sense, I'd do a screenshot for you but Im on a iPad.

Anyways, should be fun to watch this and 250 W 55th rise together.

Hi, went by yesterday and you are right, that is a seperate construction site. Only it is technically 260 West 55th Street, not 250. It will be a slightly smaller building but still large.

In fact, Broadway has a good "canyon effect". The new building at 260 will fill in the last major gap to complete the "canyon".

Took lots of pictures and will post later.

Is there a thread for the 260 W 55 st?

2 and 3 is not being build fully, only to a retail stump. Who knows when everything else will be built.

There will be in a few minutes when I post a picture of the sign at the construction site that shows what it will look like.

Ok, I walked down Broadway to 55th street and let me just say - we have a mini WTC construction site in North West Midtown. This is big and as it goes up will get LOTS of attention.

Here are the pics:

This is from Broadway so I believe this is actually 260 West 55th Street

Look carefully and you can see all three cranes in that last one.

Ugh, AWESOME update 600. This will be a pretty good filler.

And I hate to beat a dead horse, but I think you're still mixed up on what's in the photos.

The first 6 are of the hotel, what this thread is about. The 7th one is interesting because on the right you can see the first floor of the hotel, then on the left you can see where 250 West 55th is clearly starting to rise with 2+ floors of steel.

The 8th photo is the hotel again, what this thread is dedicated to. The 9th of 260 West 54th St, is an entirely different project. Everything beyond that is 250 West 55th St, a 561 foot office building you can again see here.

600, I'm going to post your photos in the appropriate threads over on SSP, and hopefully that clears up what's being built on this block. It's a lot to take in, I know, but hopefully that will clear it up!

Thanks Yankeefan but I think now I'm more confused than ever.

If someone could post a overhead Google type view of the site with the limits of the projects marked out that would help tremendously.

Are there THREE projects at this site? It definitely was all one contigious site. Note the sign for 260 West 55 was right across from the eastern portion of the construction so I assumed that is what that sign was for. Is that building not yet begun and going on the south side of 55th street?

You are correct, the last half of those photos are of the new 250 West 55th St office tower going up on 8th Ave by Boston Properties. The first few are of the hotel going up.

Ha, I don't even think 260 W 55th St has started. Basically, you've got the west side of this block is 250 W 55th St, and the east side of the block is the hotel.

I posted your photo updates for each building on SSP, 250 W 55th St, and 1715 Bway. I hope that helps. Sorry for confusing you further man, I greatly appreciate the photos.

sooo, there are THREE projects here - 1715 Broaday, 250 West 55th and 260 West 55th?

And is each crane for a different project or is yet another to go up.

Can't recall three skyscrapers going up at the same time and in such proxomity before.

I don't think 260 W 55th has even started yet. But I know that the site with the two cranes is for 250 W 55th, and the site with one crane is 1715 Broadway. I really hope I cleared that up, ha.

And yeah it is certainly an impressive scene. These would be the two tallest building U/C in any city in the country outside of Oklahoma City, and they're sharing a block in Manhattan.

Kind of off topic, but I think 250 W 55th St will compliment the Hearst Tower extremely well, and am very much looking forward to this pair starting to rise.
