Here's some waterfront houses from Sovereign Islands on the Gold Coast. It's one of the most expensive suburbs in the country.

Doesn't look that expensive to me jk

Not bad, but I thought it would have more green grass, trees and larger houses. Maybe they just look smaller from the air, or maybe I'm just too use to Miami Beach waterfront houses.

Why are so many of these uber luxury mansions built in 'classical' styles? You get the impression that the rich seriously lack good taste.

Those sprawling suburbs are pretty dreadful too, talk about unsustainable!

This one along with others over Asia are fantastic! And lets not even mention Gold Coast

Ive always wanted a waterfront house so Im drooling over this thread.

Despite loving those ones in Asia and Australia I think I would prefer one in Netherlands or one that no one posted already over here. Copenhagen. Ive seen some images, mostly on threads of the user Freki, and the modern waterfront buildings in CPH look amazing!

Some examples:

I think it's lack of imagination and good taste. They literally can't conceive a mansion or large house looking any other way.

Or they have some kind of column fetish.

I don't know if you're talking about the picture I posted, but 90% of what you can see is national park or protected parkland designated specifically to reduce urban sprawl.

because not everybody wants to live inside a shoe box!

Mc Mansions are certainly not parameter of "good taste" but certainly shoe boxes neither!

modern architecture isn't necessarily a parameter of good taste, but badly designed neo-styled villa's are certainly a sign of bad taste
