I can find images of Chemnitz before the war but the city was so utterly transformed in the post-war years, it's nearly impossible to identify the locations of the images.
no any information about pictures before and after bombing, but pictures before bombing.

Question about Coburg...was the city's Coat of Arms changed during the Nazi-era? I can't imagine the Nazis letting an image of black man have an honorary place.

Very interesting -- and thank you for the information --- and the links. I know that a lot of Euros have been spent on reconstruction -- but, has there been any talk about reconstructing the Monbijou Palace?

After a quick google-search, i figured out, yes, there has been talk about reconstruction the Monbijou Palaca - but that's all. I have readed in spiegel-magazine, that the government of Berlin, doesn't want to spent 1 cent more in the reconstruction into city castle of berlin and in fact would like to get out of the project castle. So that, i doubt any serious reconstruction of the monbijou palace will ever happen. money is always narrow.

Here is an (i guess incomplete) list of destroyed german castles in german lanugage.
The oldest destruction out from this list dated 1536 and the youngest desturction in the year 2008.
The link list destroyed castles in france, poland, russia, etc, aswell.

Another link: color slide archive of wall and ceiling painting.

images listed by city, e.g. Citycastle of Berlin, go the letter B and then to Berlin, Stadtschlo▀. Monbijou isn't there sadly.
