ADDIS ABEBA | Chuan Hui International Hotel | 264m | 58 fl | App

A 58 floor high, five star hotel in Addis Ababa will become the tallest building in Ethiopia as well as the tallest in the whole African continent. Presently, the tallest building in Africa is the 54 floors high Carlton Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The China-based Guangdong Chuanhui Group, which is currently building the biggest cement factory in Ethiopia, will construct the hotel skyscraper. Addis Ababa mayor Kuma Demeksa told the company's President Mr. Yanlin Liu the hotel project would "provide jobs and promote the local economic development" and it would become an African landmark in the highest city in Africa. Ethiopian Trade and Industry Minister Girma Birru said his country welcomes more Chinese and Asian companies to invest in the growing tourism sector and to build more skyscrapers, particularly as Addis Ababa is behind only New York and London as the world's diplomatic center. (Geneva? Vienna? Nairobi? Brussels?)

The second tallest building in Ethiopia will be the 42-storey tower of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) headquarters that is under construction. (pictured right)

Tallest in Ethiopia and Africa? This is going to be great! I'd love to see this one getting built as soon as possible.

I saw the post in African subforum indicating this building will be 264m high. If the height is confirmed, maybe the moderator could put it in the topic.

Is the cladding supposed to be irridescent, or is that just the render? The color reminds me of the Tiara United Towers in Dubai.

B/c it is owned by a Chinese luxury hotel.
As long as it has Amharic on the other side, it's all good

Revised design- guess they have a generic background. Taken from their website.

They used Montreal as a backdrop? hardly any African cities are gonna look too much like Montreal.

My thoughts exactly. First of all Addis Ababa is spelt with an 'a' not an 'e'. Secondly that aint a pic of Addis. I have visited quite a few African capitals including Addis and none of them look sparkling like that.

Eish its just a rendering, there are renderings of Nigerian projects that show only White and Asian people.

Also, Addis Ababa can be spelled either Ababa or Abeba.

The pronunciation is AH-DIS AH-BEH-BAH, so it can be spelled either ways, and I guess it's a rendering. Chinese firms are notorious for wishful backdrops to their renderings. Remember this?:
