Welcome back Miami's Tallest...Met 3!!!!
sorry this news deserves its own thread, looks like metmiami is back on its original plan of 3 towers, maybe due to no office tower demands,
well we might have lost a futuer denser block but we got the tallest back

Terrific news, IMO! I'm sure many of you Miami people don't mind sacrificing a little density in exchange for a nice tall tower! Besides, with all of the new buildings being constructed in that complex, it'll provide enough density. I just hope they'll go through with building Met 3 as is in a few years (or sooner, hopefully) w/o tweeking the scale of it anymore (unless they want to make it even taller). I'll admit, I was a little dumbfounded when they added that office component and scaled down the condo part. Glad to see the developers wised up.

hi ballinboi
i saw the picture in the paper yesterday and actually had a discussion with a friend of mines who works in the miami herald and showed hime the newer rendering. it seems that the people that put the pictures in for the stories do a quick search in the database and then insert the first pic they see... this is a reprint of an article that was printed out about 2 months ago if im correct... but nowhere does it say that metropolitan miami has gone back to its original plans after all you should be seeing alot more density if they can pack it in being that it will mean more profit. so unless its in type dont go by the picture/rendering shown.... ps miami herald has cutt back on crew lately so they are running off a skeleton crew mostly untrained individuals. |

Yeah, much as I wanted to believe Met3 was back, I had to assume it was a mistake. Hasn't MDM already gotten approval for their amended plan ?

It was supposed to have broken ground July / August, and I haven't heard anything to suggest otherwise.

I hope this it true, though i have my doubts. I liked the tall tower version a lot better. I dont think it would have been Miami's tallest though, looks only slightly taller than wachovia in this model. Nice and slim and tall nonetheless.

Met 1, 2 or 3?
Newbie here.
Awesome site. Great to know that there's a group of people out here that love Miami, urbanization, and architecture! Exciting news about Met but somewhat confusing to me: what's the story, which one is going to be going up first and how tall are each of the towers? |

But in the model, MET 2 looks pathetic, and MET 3 is not an 800 footer.

Thanks for the clarification; that's great news. I really like the design of The Met. In fact, I like it so much that I've been tempted to just wish that the dupont parcel wouldn't be built on and instead be turned into a park from where The Met, One Miami, Brickel Key could all be admired. Then again, I also like density. Either way it'll be cool. I'm just glad that the dupont hotel/condo is being torned down; any plans to do the same to the herald building? (nothing against The Herald; just the architecture of that building-which happens to be in one of the most prominent places in the city). Again, thanks. |
