beautiful old buildings and the new modern ones are nicely designed.
I don't see that many photos of Cardiff that often until now.

A pretty city! Definitely its strength lies in its historical architecture.

you'll all have to excuse El Greco he has a vendeta against the city and myself. Cardiff is definately a city that looks lovely and has made huge strides to improve all public realm (his personal gripe).

Its "vendetta".

Unlike other capitals such as London, Edinburgh and Belfast, Cardiff is an unassuming, run of the mill provincial town with two nice buildings. Yes it does have interesting Victorian architecture, but then again Slough does aswell.
To anyone planning on visiting the UK I would strongly recommend to give Cardiff and South Wales in general as wide a berth as possible. There are better places to see in the UK - explore the Cotswolds, the North and Scotland.

There he goes, with his wacky assertations! For those visiting skyscrapercity I would strongly recommend to give El Greco and and his wacky views in general as wide a berth as possible!

There is plenty of amazing architecture in Cardiff and south wales, sticking solely to Cardiff you have the amazing civic center of neo classical buildings around a formal garden (one fo the finest in the world), 2000 year old castle that contains a magnificent apartment complex designed by the then richest man in the world, wonderfull modern architecture like the wales millennium center and senedd, a beautiful streetscape of modern and old buildings wrapped up in an almost completely refurbished streetscape, one of the best shopping cetners in the UK and one fo the most pedestrin friendly adn i could o on but that playing into El stinkos hands. GET A LIFE EL GRECO

Then again you would say that, wouldnt you? I mean youre from Cardiff.

PS. The great many mistakes in your post suggest to me that you need to relax and perhaps get a life?

Come one guys let's be nice about this ye? Fair enough, El_Greco doesn't like Cardiff and I personally hate Newport but filling the page with comments along the lines of Cardiff is a waste of space and doesn't deserve a look in is a little harsh. It's people go there and make their own opinions. Having seen Newport so many times, it was a pleasant surprise going to Cardiff which had a real city feel about it and in places, not a British feel. And the countrside around Cardiff is lovely too. Though I would agree about many other places in South Wales are quite simply awful like Newport, Cwmbran, Port Talbot, Merthyr Tydfil etc.

Keep up the great work cardiff!

Great city. I spent the better part of two moths in the Cardiff area a few years ago, the city was and is making huge advancements in culture and urbanity. I particularly liked the train system, it is a great commuter system that allows one to get to most parts of the Cardiff metro area.

Great pics, brings back fond memories.

I agree. We don't need to drag any city through the mud here; these are simply photography threads so that we can learn about cities we have never visited. As we all know, photothreads take a lot of hard work, and are the proud result of a photographer's work. Let's not ruin that by letting our personal biases get in the way. More photos, please!
