Baroque Architecture

One of my favourite styles of architecture is Renaissance derived baroque architecture - obviously Italian but also found in most European countries

Baroque architecture is characterised by broad occasionally circular forms dramatic use of light, either strong light-and-shade contrasts,
opulent use of ornaments (often gilded) and intricate detail. St Pauls in London is one of the best examples of baroque architecture in London, which has also become symbolic of the durability of the city due it's survival of the bombing in World War 2.

True,

Its a very interesting style... I like it, because it was something new in their time, the element and importance of light, the new philosphies about life and stuff... quite interesting

Well im not going to start to talk too much about that...
In Brussels (my home city) are a lot of nice Baroque examples...
Here just one I like, and to make this thread not only about churches..

The Grand Place in Brussels

Baroque is one of my favourite architectural styles. It is a shame that it made very little impact in the UK - apart from Inigo Jones and Wren theres only a handful of Baroque architects and most people couldnt even name them.

Heres a few Baroque churches in Vilnius, Lithuania -

Church of St Casimir -

Church of All Saints -

Church of the St Teresa -

Church of Saints Apostles Peter and Paul -

PS - theres plenty of fantastic Baroque in Bavaria.

A boroque church near Hohenschwangau, you can see the castle of Neuschwanstein in the background -

Ettal Abbey in Bavaria -

I dont know if you can call these Baroque but they date from the same era. Originally they were inns, some still serve the same purpose. These are in Oberammergau, Bavaria

The Baroque architecture influenced many colonial cities in Brazil, both colonial Brazil as independent Brazil, the greatest artist of visual arts were Aleijadinho, in sculpture, and Mestre Athayde.

Here's Peles Castle In Romania. I think it can be called baroque although it seems to defy any one specific architectural style.

I see what you mean kind of defies any one style but Romania is renowned for baroque architecture - magnificent aerial shot

That castle above does not qualify, because it's a late 19th century mixture of a few architecural styles. The most dominant of those is clearly Neo Renaissance.
