Well done. Heard via the Co Operative UK link this morning.

Any insider info on when digging and construction starts finishes? What the renders on the stands will be. What pies and beverage will be sold?

Cheers.

Ah 40 weeks, meaning another season at Le Stade Majestic de Gigg Lane then?

I was at Salford Rugby's new ground this evening and couldn't not think that take away the main stand and possibly this is what the Moston Community stadium could look like.

Curiously the Reds end supporters struck up the Sloop John B ( which I am told is a. FC song arising from an apparent faulty juke box in Burslem one snowy Sunday) and a reworked version of a Sex Pistols song, which likewise is a FC anthem, if such phrases are permissible on here.

And pies. I don't much do pies. But I really fancy a cheese and onion Wiganer at half time.. Cue a very disgruntled Heaton when told they had run out of them.

Tsk tsk, Mr Whittaker.

Moston - potential legal challenge

We have been notified that those opposed to our ground development in Moston may attempt to seek a judicial review of the council’s decision and if they do go ahead they intend to lodge legal papers with the council in the next few days.

It is the council’s place to respond to any legal challenge, so FC United’s public comments in the press will be limited. Given the preparation that has gone into the planning application we remain confident that due process has been followed.

FC United sign up MMU architecture students - to design dugouts at new stadium

June 18, 2012

Architecture students will cut their teeth by designing snazzy dugouts for Manchester’s latest football stadium.

Trainee designers at Manchester Metropolitan University are being challenged to think outside the box when it comes to the traditional pitch-side shelters.

They will design eye-catching new dugouts for the £5m FC United stadium.

The community club, formed in protests at the Glazer family’s takeover of Manchester United, are building a 5,000-seat stadium on playing fields in Moston.

And a group of 180 second-year architecture students have been asked to come up with original ideas.

It follows a hands-on exercise last year, when MMU students were let loose at stately home Dunham Massey, creating a series of stunning extravagant garden ornaments. Lecturer Laura Sanderson said the new challenge would test students’ creativity.

She said: “We are working with the club to create two new dug outs. The brief to students will be that they need to break the mould and come up with an original idea.

“Although, we’re still at an early stage, we’d be looking to involve the community in getting their ideas about what they could look like.

“The project at Dunham Massey was really successful.

“Our students ended up creating six follies which were really eye-catching. It’s great experience for our students to see their ideas actually get fabricated.”

The scheme will be fleshed out at an architecture conference, which will explore the relationship between design and the beautiful game. The public talk at the university on June 21 will see coaches, including FC United’s Andy Walsh, and architects discuss the role of the dugout and the highs and lows of building a new stadium.

The Northern Premier League club, who currently use Bury FC’s Gigg Lane, hope to be in their new ground for the 2013/14 season.

But the move sparked a bitter row, with many people in Moston opposed to the location on the Ronald Johnson Playing Fields.

Council bosses gave permission for the building last October, despite more than 2,200 objections.

Work has already begun on the site, funded through a fan-based share scheme and community grants.

Have the names of all the shareholders etched into the perspex of the dugouts.

Juat a quick update !!!!!

The 106 has been satisfied as far as the council is concerned. On 26th July 2012 we served Mcc our Pre Action Protocol stating that we have grounds to contest the approval of Planning consent. This was followed up with a paper copy Mcc have 14 days from the date on the doc to respond. Mcc have asked for an extension of 7 days which our solicitor has granted. We have furnished Mcc with as much information as we have in order to speed up their reply. After the 21 days Mcc have 1 of 2 choices: 1. quash the planning application and sign legal docs through the courts to back that up.2. Contest our legal challenge. If Mcc go with option 2 then the judicial review swings into action.NO building work can start for 3 months from the date that the 106 was approved. As soon as that 3 months is up we will place an Injunction on the field to prevent any building work.

Of course it will probably go to judicial review and will be probably ruled in favour of MCC, surrounded by a mist of pointless powder blue angst.

Don't forget it's roughly £1.5m for ever that MCC are said to be contributing to this stadium and £1m per year for the Jockstrap exhibition at the Urbis.

It's a pity that the good folk at Oldham and Swinton rugby and Stockport County FC are not looking to better facilities.

A High Court judge will decide whether FC United’s controversial new stadium can be built.

A judicial review into the proposed 5,000 capacity stadium in Moston will be held in Manchester on December 18.

Residents opposed to the plans launched legal proceedings after Manchester council gave the breakaway club permission to build the ground on the site of Ronald Johnson Playing Fields last year. They have now succeeded in forcing a review, which will be heard over a day and a half at Manchester’s Civil Justice Centre.

It is understood they will argue that the planning process was flawed because planning officers did not feel it necessary to carry out an environmental impact assessment. That decision was at the council’s discretion.

A number of other alleged faults with the planning process are expected to be made.

FC United, formed in protest at the Glazer family’s takeover of Manchester United, had hoped to start work on the new ground this summer.

They are currently playing their matches in the seventh tier of English football at Bury’s Gigg Lane home and have never had a stadium of their own.

FC United had originally planned to build their ground on Ten Acres Lane in Newton Heath but a late switch in council funding scuppered the proposals.

The stadium is set to cost about £4.6m and the club have raised the cash through various fundraising initiatives and grants.

An FC United spokesman said: "Unfortunately we have been advised that we cannot comment."

A Manchester council spokesman said: "We are glad this hearing will be taking place soon because it will enable issues to be resolved promptly."

I got picture messaged a substantial rendering of the FC ground on Saturday by a friend who is associated with the club.

I will allow Grand to do the honours though, but what I see is a small terrace to the north side, (those position appears to easily afford future expansion)a standing and seated away end to the west and rather impressively a main stand and end that has a connecting curve.*

*Heaton thinks all good sports grounds should have a Curva, embellished with banners, flags, raucous songs from raucous boys, smoke and noise.

I expect this to be approved in time.

From Moston fields, to Sports city and to Belle Vue will in a decade see the city inherit some fantastic sporting facilities.

Here's the ground in paper form

Now, from memory....

Capacity is 5,000, that's capacity, not seats.

What we have is a main stand, which will house the club house, function room, dressing rooms, offices etc. It will have seating for just over 800 in the top section and a good old fashioned terrace running along the bottom section.

This terrace will curve round into the main terrace end which you can see behind the far goal.

Directly opposite the Main Stand, there's a bus stop stand which will be no more than a few steps high.

And behind the other goal will be the away end, which again won't be too big.

The main focal point of the stadium from the outside will be the Main Stand though.

Outside of the stadium, and adjacent to the Main Stand there will be the Moston Junior and community pitches, as well as a square which will be a hive of activity on a match day as per usual

I think that's everything, there may well be a few more twists and turns on the legal front but, the money is ready and this could be good to go for the start of next season

Yeah that's the one.

Now I am a little disappointed as I had expected unrealistically something ionic like the Pow Mow ground for Whitehaven rugby, but hey ho it's functional,it will do the job, it's your home and it's got a mean curve.

I guess the functional "bus shelter" is to house those impressive banners and that huge bar scarf I have been told about.

Bus shelter stand will be like the one at Marine's ground, right?
