Level crossing accident

On Tuesday 13th a commuter train crashed against a bus at a level crossing next to Flores station. As a consequence of the impact, the train derailed and crashed against another train that was stopping at the station.

The line is plagued with level crossings (one every 200m in that section) and the construction of a tunnel to avoid them should start soon.

I don't like the old trains, they are so slowly and dark (u can't see it in those pics here how dark it is in the trains of line A, but it really is.)
Besides i hope they will get new trains all over the system.
What i really like are those ceramic walls at the stations - really unic among the world metro systems.

But they looks so art deco. May be just on the pics these trains from line 1 looks interesting, for the travelers which travel every day they may not so impressive.

Buenos Aires’ subway system is growing continually year by year. Although it is the oldest metro system in South America, its growing was halted after thirties of last century (except line E, which was growing at a standard rate since forties of last century). Thankfully speed up of construction/extension restarted from late nineties of last century, and now it is growing again. Line A, B, E & H is growing step by step. But the rate is not quite satisfactory.

Now we are expecting for three more lines – line F, G & I. There are some questions relating this –

1) I looked early that line F, G & I will be magenta, orange & lime coloured, but now I looked those will be brown, dark orange & light orange. What will be final?

2) Line A western extension towards San Pedrito was planned to open in 2010, but it is still not opened, but why? What is the problem and final opening date?

3) When will the extensions of line A, B, E & H be opened?

4) How is construction going on line F, G & I? Has they started? Please post some photos.

5) Will both line F, G & I be fully underground?

6) Will line I be final extension of Buenos Aires’ metro?

That's the connection between Line B and the Urquiza Line, an electrified commuter line. It's not used for passenger services, but according to Wikipedia the Line B trains use it to to go to the Urquiza Line workshop for maintenance.

1) these are the final colors of the future lines.
G: Light pink
F: Orange
I: Brown (this line is the last to be built and probably wont be neded for the next 20 years)

2) our city Mayor has a dreadfull pro BRT policies and doesn't give a **** to the underground transit system. (he promised 40km during capaing ad hasent even finished those that the previous administration had started) yet thoreticaly whitin the nexts month the stations should be opened.

3) A & B (4 stations) this year. H(1 station) late 2012. E(3 stations) late 2013 H(6stations) 5 years from now or more.

4) no (thanks useless mayor)

5)Yes

6) for now it will, yet if buenos aires wants to have a better transport system new lines are not required but to integrate and upgrade the Commuter line with the subway and try to copy a RER system, that wolud be the ultimate solution to the transit system in the city.

it is, the B line continues to the right, this tunnel was used several years ago tho run commuter service from L.N Alem station which is located in te city center and not in Federico lacroze, but the old toshiba trains heated up inside the tunnel so the service wasn't so succesfull.
