Just to repeat, although I would have thought it was clear enough the first time round.

Have to agree that the music thread is something I'd be more inclined to read. Whilst music is undoubtedly part of 'the arts', that expression does tend to conjure up more images of things like theatre, performing arts, opera, visual arts etc. Leeds' music scene is certainly robust enough to warrant its own thread

Well perhaps the question regarding music going on which thread should be asked to scs2mwp who was the op for the music post going on Arts and Culture.

My original post to the Arts and Culture thread was aimed at highlighting a fantastic array of international music and comedy acts in our city. Therefore it was not specific to the Leeds Music Scene thread. Please see my original post below. This forum is a fantastic resource for discussion and debate regarding Leeds developments, lets try and cut out the nitpicking and squabbling for everyone's benefit!

All of which are sold out!! It's excellent to see Leeds attracting such big name performers and demonstrates the great array of mixed-use venues (all shapes and sizes) in the city.

Did anyone notice or go to the Morrissey gig at the O2 Academy last night?

Noticed a load of people wearing The Smiths and Morrissey t-shirts even though they looked young enough to have been not born when the Smiths were originally around and I wonder if Morrissey had said anything deliberately confrontational at the gig last night? Did he just play solo stuff or stuff by The Smiths such as Panic, This Charming Man etc?

AGAINST this idea...
So if you're a business in the "gay quarter" you are "gay friendly" (whatever that means for shops/offices etc) and if you're not then you're not?
And if you're gay you should flock to 3 certain streets...
Fair enough if the bars/clubs want to be close together for ease of footfall etc, but not into defining the whole area as gay...

I see where you're coming from. This is the 21st century, we shouldn't be shoving gay people into a certain area away from everyone else.. ?

It's hardly away from everyone else, surely it's next to everyone else.

it's been going a good few years now... they actually have some very respectable bands playing over the years. we've been three times in the last five years or so and it's always been good fun. check it out if you can!!

Any idea as to how well attended the Leeds festival was this year (particularly with the maximum capacity increased to 75,000) in addition to the performance and audience reaction to the bands performing? The Saturday lineup (headed by My Chemical Romance) did seem particularly weak imo although it would have been interesting to see how Pulp performed on Sunday.

I'm off to Bingley Music Live this weekend - should be good!

Perhaps there should be a general thread for all festivals and shows in the Leeds area? Maybe there already is?
