Vinod NN's Thenmala pictures
Thenmala is a famous tourist spot in the southern part of Kerala, in the Kollam district. This is the first eco-tourism project in India. There is a beautiful dam built acrosss the Kallada river, which is mainly used for irrigation purpose. The main enjoyments are boating, trekking, biking, an open art gallery, mountaineering, and musical fountain. This place is one of the main shooting locations for South Indian movies (especially Malayalam & Tamil).
It is about 72 km from Thiruvananthapuram. The famous Palaruvi waterfalls is about 16 km from Thenmala. The road runs parallel to Kollam, Shengottah metre gauge line, with a magnificent bridge constructed by the British. There is also one deer rehabilitation center nearby.
