Some very handsome homes there; the area reminds me of the Toxteth district in my city of Liverpool - a fabulous past, and even though it is now in a transition zone - full of potential.

The Westend and Over the Rhine are the same way. Dayton Street was once the home of Cincy's great German Beer Brewers and Pork Packers. Besides "Queen of the West", people would also refer to it as "Porkopolis". lol I prefer "Queen of the West" myself! Hopefully revelopment from OTR and the area of the Westend closes to downtown spreads north and west.

Those houses with huge tall windows look interesting. Is that a common thing in Cincinnati?

With Cincy Italianates, yea, from what I've seen it's fairly common. I really like them. I'd love to buy a house like these here or in OTR.

I get what you mean. Unfortunately, most people live in the suburbs and do their shopping in the burbs. Downtown is mostly a weekday place between 9:00 and 5:00 PM. I usually go there for German mass on one Sunday a month.

Very very well captured, Chad! What a lot of work, though I'm sure it was a pleasure. I'm amazed at how well you captured the essence of our city(I was born and raised here). Thank you thank you for taking the time to come down here from Columbus and post all of these wonderful pics!

Fortunately, if you were to check the MLS you will see that there are many many condos/townhouses listed that have been developed or refurbished in the past few years, and more and more people are moving back downtown. Fountain Square has events almost every night in the Spring/Summer/Fall, and Cincy has become alive again. The old bars and restaurants that weathered the storm after the riots in early 2000's are thriving once again, and the new art scene has really exploded as well.

Chad, have you ever taken one of the "Architreks Tours" that our city offers? Since you obviously know downtown quite well you would really enjoy one of these tours very much--as they take you into little secret places that you might not have known were there. I have yet to take a tour of the old underground subway---I think it may only be a couple times a year.

Once again thanks so much for posting all of these terrific photos!
