These are top ten most beautiful buildings in the world, according to this site: http://housinguae.com/2010/09/03/10-...-in-the-world/

1. Museo Guggenheim, Spain
2. Potala Palace, Tibet
3. Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Egypt
4. Sagrada Familia, Spain
5. Taj Mahal, India
6. Emam Mosque, Iran
7. Winter Palace, Russia
8. Crac des Chevaliers, Syria
9. Museu Oscar Niemeyer, Brazil
10. Hagia Sophia, Turkey

Instead of Emam Mosque, I believe Vank Cathedral in the same city of Isfahan and from the same period is the most beautiful building in Iran, as you read in the above link one of the reason of the beauty of Emam Mosque is its tiles seeming to change colour depending on the light conditions, Vank Cathedral has not only more beautiful tiles but also some very beautiful figure paintings which are forbidden in the Islamic art.

Look at different colors of tiles because of light:

Look at beautiful paintings:

Not sure which is the most beautiful, but the Potala Palace of Tibet comes to mind.

I think its just another building (not the ugliest, not the most beautiful)
For a modern beautiful building i'll go for

Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building

And I'm considering the 30 St Mary Axe
