Wayanad - The paradise of spicy hills

Wyanad -The unspoilt expanse of virgin rainforests in the Western Ghats in northeastern Kerala, is bordered by Ooty, Mysore, Kannur and Calicut districts. The misty environs of Wayanad offer a wide range of trekking opportunities, plantation visits and wildlife tours.

This green paradise is nestled among the mountains of the Western Ghats is located at a distance of 76 km from the nearest sea-shore of Kozhikode, forming the border world of the greener part of Kerala. Clean and pristine, enchanting and hypnotizing, this land is filled with history and culture.

Wayanad is a land of spices-Almost every crops such as coffee, black-pepper, ginger, turmeric, cocoa, arecanut, tea, rubber, vanilla etc are grown here. Black pepper produced from this hill station is famous in the world of spices because of its unique quality and aroma.

Airstrip mooted in Wayanad

Tourism Minister AP Anilkumar said yesterday that plans were afoot to start airstrips in Kasaragod and Wayanad districts for improving connectivity to draw more domestic and foreign tourists to tourism destinations in the region.

The condition of NH 212 is pathetic in ghat section and in wayanad and traffic is very high. For the passengers/vehicles from middle and north wayanad ,It is better to take Kuttiady ghat to reach Kozhikode.
