your photos brought me back memories..
I felt some kind of ethereal lightedness when I entered and rested in that church after a long walking around the city (2nd pic), looking up at the pastel designs while soft afternoon light is sifting through the windows. I could still hear the noon chimes at the old city hall (6th pic) and could still see the fresh flowers at the tomb on Ludwig II (13th pic) thank you for that... |

Great photos as always.It's been a while that i was in Munich and unfortunately i was too drunk.So it's nice to see what i've missed.

Fantastic photos, Munich and Bavaria is my favourite part of Germany ; Alps, Baroque, Charming Villages and great infrastructure. Although it is a shame that during my visit to Munich I was suffering from what I suspect was food poisoning and therefore couldnt consume epic ammounts of beer and schnitzels (I know its Austrian, but still)!

Great place to visit even w/o the Oktoberfest. Possibly even better since it won't be overrun with tourists.

Munich is certainly my favorite city in Germany (I haven't yet been to Berlin, though). Not that it was that different from other cities in objective terms but it just felt as if I had been there before. It just felt nice, charming and what I would call "cosy". More or less a perfect European city.

It markets itself as a "weltstadt mit herz"/"world city/metropolis with heart" after all and is also known as a village with a population of 1 million. It certainly feels a bit cozier than Berlin and the whole folksiness adds to that feeling but at the same time the wide avenues do give it a big city atmosphere as well.
