Aiyo, how come none of the pictures can load?

Anyway, I go to Kemaman every CNY as it is my mum's side hometown... The town has certainly grown since those quieter 80s-90s days, who would have thought that there is even a PEUGEOT dealer here? Or that Hai Peng Kopitiam could be featured in foreign travel programs (e.g. the one previously hosted by Asha Gill on Discovery Travel & Living)?

Still, more can be done to bring in more non-industry investment into the place... For instance, there is that nice stretch of beach opposite the otak-otak stall (Che Wan) heading towards Kuala Kemaman... There is a piece of empty land that is actually suitable for some 4-star resort in the Holiday Inn or even Novotel mould... Or maybe even another luxury-class hotel (e.g. Hilton, Sheraton, Marriott types) next to Awana Kijal...

And didn't someone mention about Center Point? That has to be the worst shopping mall I've ever been to (luckily The Store is still ok-lah) and whatever happened to that abandoned eyesore above the place? Supposed to be a hotel, right?

Kisah kopitiam Hai Peng,
Berita Harian, 2010/09/20

TGV Mesra Mall opens 25 September 2010

from Cinema Online
www.cinema.com.my

20 Sep – The long-awaited 3-screen TGV cineplex at Mesra Mall in the Kerteh / Kemaman area will open to the public this Saturday, 25 September 2010.

According to TGV Cinemas, the 3-screen location is located on the ground floor of the mall and there will be plans to add another two screens to the premises in the future.

Mesra Mall, reportedly a RM 100 million ultra-modern shopping complex built on a 12ha site, opened its doors to shoppers in the Kerteh petroleum town back in October 2008 and promises to be a new landmark for shoppers and tourists coming to Terengganu, according to its website. With Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd managing the operations, the complex is developed by KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd through its two subsidiaries - Metro Kemasik Sdn Bhd and KLCC Projek Sdn Bhd.

It is understood that there will be an official launch for industry players, partners and the media on a later date.

TGV Cinemas seems to be on a rebranding exercise spree, recently launching their new concept TGV Wangsa Walk in Wangsa Maju, adding several 3D projectors to their existing locations and also getting on Facebook and Twitter (http://twitter.com/TGVCinemas).
