Yuck! Can't believe it's from 2012. Looks so old already. Both the inner and outer walls are discusting, but especially the outer ones IMHO.

Thank you for posting though, it's always interesting!

Tamachi Station East Entrance North District Community Public Instition 田町駅東口北地区公共公益施設 | 54,9m

It's finally moving. I found a blog about it, and it says the construction officially started in may.

The last pictures dates from october, and there's heavy machinery on the site:

When progress get more visible, next year, the pace of the posts may increase, I think.

But even better, there's a webcam, with images updated every 15 minutes they say (every day is already a lot but well).

Considering it's a Mori Building development, I find it sort of disappointing.

チョトマテクダサイ

Ginza 6-Chome 10 district Redevelopment 銀座六丁目10地区第一種市街地再開発

It will replace this block:

http://building-pc.cocolog-nifty.com/helicopter/

The construction will start in 2014, so there won't be anything to see until the demolition starts sometime next year.

What's more interesting now is that the developer is a special purpose company set up by L Real Estate(LRE), Sumitomo Fudosan and Mori Building. That's a difference between this development and a 100% Mori Building development. But the Sumitomo Mori combination is more interesting in the light of the recent developments with the Roppongi 5-Chome redevelopment.

It's definitely nicer than what is already there, but its nothing special. I think they could have done a lot more with this, it just looks like a boring glass box. I am not really that bothered about this project.

Matsukaya actually wanted to build a skyscraper:

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=399780

Of course they want to build something high, because they need to get some cash out of the redevelopement. The problem is always the same, entrepreneurship is strangulated by the japanese giant bureaucracy octopus, whose only justification for its living is producing more and more regulation, and regulation about the regulation, and regulation about the reguation of the regulation, and.....

It is nice to have a compact skyline like in Marunouchi-Otemachi, but a more diverse environnement, with old family houses, mid-rise modern buildings, and skyscrapers, is also great, if not more interesting. In any case, it is the true japanese cityscape.

In spite of that, the bureaucrats have decided out of nowhere that Ginza's "roof" has to be about 60m...

So, I think that Matsuzaka, Mori and Sumitomo are doing the maximum, and they do it well. You may call it boring, but at least it's a glass box and not a concrete box

13 floors is always never bad . And there will be a nice terrace on the top apparently. The current building looks quite dull and it's not that big.
That's a huge step-forward.

The original building was far superior to the future redevelopment.

http://www.matsuzakaya-ginza88.jp/im...e_leftup_3.jpg

Needless to say, it was destroyed in 1951 for the current monstrosity. If Matsuzakaya is leaving Ginza, they should renovate the main historical part of their Ueno store back to its 1920s glory. If instead they do something like Matsuya in Ginza (which was "modernized" in the 40s), I hope that it'll look nice, unlike the old 1929 Shinjuku Mitsukoshi...

Shinjuku is not Akihabara!

The complex looks alright, but you can't expect to much from this kind of project. One good thing is the area looks really new and clean.
