Just a quick overview of the some of the projects, now and in the near future.

Currently U/C

Block 42: this tower

Block 67: Yokohama Mitsui Building

Block 43: Concurred Minato Mirai

This 86m high tower went U/C in 2008, but the construction has stopped because of legal issues.




Soon U/C

Block 34: this will be a new mall (start march 2011)

This is the empty block at the bottom of the picture in my last post, it's right across from the Yokohama Museum of Art. It will fill the biggest gap on the main pedestrian road of Minato Mirai.



There should also be 100m high residential tower on this block, it should have gone U/C last year but it's on hold at the moment.

Block 46: a 109m high office tower, start construction April 2012.



This was supposed to be a 150m high tower that should have gone U/C last year, but it has been scaled back drastically.


On hold or Cancelled

Block 43: Next to the Concurred Minato Mirai where the construction is halted another office tower would have gone U/C last year. It would have been the 160m high CSK Group Headquarters Building. But it has been cancelled




Just outside of Minato Mirai 21, Mori is also planning a huge project that should have gone U/C in 2008. The original plan was a 220m high office tower and a 170m high residential tower. Other developers will construct even more towers different parts of the same redevelopment plan.

It's awaiting better times. And there's always the possibility that it will be scaled back, we just have to wait and see what will happen.


No plans

There are still enough empty blocks that don't have plans yet, like many blocks in the 50 numbers.

Nice buildings (especially the one beside the Nissan GLOBAL HQ building..........which I think belongs to FUJI XEROX).

As such, in current state, Yokohama looks fantastic and any future improvements and additions will make it even better than it is today

Judging from the height and the design, it should be the elder brother's company (Mori Building), and that's the case indeed. But it seems it has already been scaled back, on the website they now talk about a 200m. tower. The completion date of 2012, however, is obviously false.

Actually, this page isn't linked with the rest of the website anymore, so the informations on it, even the height information, may not be accurate. I guess even themselves don't know for sure! lol
But I'd like to see that one rising for real! It would be a great add to Minatomirai's skyline, which apart from the landmark tower, has mostly 100-150m. classic boxes.

The tower was completed in June, but it didn't open yet. The area around the tower is still fenced off.

But a couple of days ago it was announced that the Industrial Construction/Engineering company "Chiyoda Corporation" will move into this tower and will occupy most of the office floors in the complex.

I like this building because of its street level impact. Look at all those trees! Imagine in 5-10 years when they're double the height.
