Fujairah City Centre
New City Centre Mall Fujairah ![]() “The Government of Fujairah and the Majid Al Futtaim Group have announced the signing of a joint venture to build a City Centre mall and Retail Park in Fujairah.” The only detail to be announced was that the complex was due to open in 2012. The extensive report said nothing about the location, the cost, the number of shops, the type of businesses and the sustainability of shopping complexes in the midst of the financial downturn. I didn't find any updates on this topic can someone update us please. I wish that they proceed with this project it would change Fujairah for ever. I only found the location according to Wikimapia, it seems that its going to be built on one of the main roads in Fujairah (Dubai-Fujairah) road perhaps . ![]() ![]() Hope you like my first ever post on Sky scraper City

Khansaheb Civil Engineering has been awarded the construction contract of the 30,000 GLA project with an estimated value of Dhs400m. Commenting on the groundbreaking, Peter Walichnowski, CEO, Majid Al Futtaim Properties, said: "The retail sector in Fujairah is considered to be well underserviced. The Emirate's retail potential is estimated at over Dhs1bn and only standalone hypermarkets and community centers are currently in operation. "Fujairah City Centre will be our sixth mall in the UAE. It will cater to the increasing demand for premium shopping destinations and the growing population in Fujairah, which is expected to be in excess of 185,000 by 2012. The Centre will provide the high quality shopping experience synonymous with Majid Al Futtaim Properties' City Centre brand." Peter Walichnowski also spoke about the positive impact that Majid Al Futtaim malls have on the communities around them and the general economy. "The Fujairah City Centre will add a new touristic attraction to Fujairah's map bringing a wide group of leading international brands such as Carrefour and Centerpoint. It will also create a minimum of 1200 job opportunities and add significant value to the real estate surrounding it," he added. The Fujairah City Centre is a LEED registered project, currently targeting a Gold LEED rating under the USGBC Green Building Guidelines. Upon completion, it is expected to be the first retail development to attain this rating in the Emirate of Fujairah. Fujairah is recognized as a strategic city in the UAE due to its location on the east coast facing the Indian Ocean. While remaining one of the largest bunkering ports in the world, the Emirate of Fujairah is witnessing a series of developments that would enhance its leading position among the northern Emirates. Two thirds of UAE's oil is expected to be shipped out of Fujairah after the completion of the oil pipeline being connected from Abu Dhabi. The Emirate is also seeing an oil refinery being developed towards its nothern end, in addition to the construction of a strategic grain storage facility for the UAE and a new Fujairah-Dubai highway, which will reduce the drive time between the two Emirates by 45 minutes. Fujairah City Centre set for opening
![]() Developer Majid Al Futtaim Properties claims 100% success in leasing store space By Aya Lowe, Staff Reporter Published: 00:00 February 20, 2012 Gulf News 1 The Fujairah City Centre Image Credit: Courtesy Majid Al Futtaim Properties Majid Al Futtaim Properties is hoping to deliver Fujairah’s first integrated retail, leisure and entertainment shopping destination when the Fujairah City Centre is inaugurated this year. Fujairah: Majid Al Futtaim Properties has announced that its sixth shopping mall in the UAE, Fujairah City Centre, is due to open on April 4. Fujairah City Centre will be the first shopping, leisure and entertainment destination in Fujairah with 34,000 square metres of retail space and 105 value and mid-market brands, 85 per cent of which will be new to Fujairah, Majid Al Futtaim Properties said. "We expect a strong, robust year in terms of footfall. This will also be bolstered by the increasing residential and tourism developments in the area. Fujairah City Centre is the largest shopping mall in the emirate of Fujairah, and a key destination for the secondary trade areas in the northern emirates of Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain. Given the underdeveloped retail landscape in these areas, Fujairah City Centre will be one of the pioneering malls to introduce the lifestyle, entertainment and shopping destination concept to the residents of Fujairah and neighbouring emirates," said Majid Al Fahim, senior mall manager. Full-fledged start According to the developer, the target is to have all 105 stores trading on the opening day. The anchor tenants include Centrepoint, Paris Gallery, Max Fashion and the emirate's largest Carrefour outlet. "One hundred per cent of Fujairah City Centre's 105 stores are leased. We have been in a fortunate position where demand for space outweighed availability," Al Fahim said. Over 35 per cent of the mall's stores are dedicated to women's, men's and children's clothing and accessories and will include brands such as H&M, New Look, Sun & Sand Sports, Aeropostale, Charles & Keith, Aldo, Promod, Garage, Koton, Steve Madden, Springfield and Nine West. Children's and specialised maternity brands include Cotton on Kids, Mothercare and Mom & Me. The centre's Food and Beverage selection will encompass 25 outlets including Wendy's, Subway, NYC Fries, Just Falafel and Bombay Chowpatty, Chili's, Pizza Express, Taj Spice, Beanstro, PinkBerry, Patchi, Candelite and Tim Horton's. VOX Cinemas and a Magic Planet family entertainment centre will make up the mall's main entertainment unit. "We have always enjoyed a very positive relationship with Majid Al Futtaim for several years now and we are excited about the group's new outlets at Fujairah City Centre. Our brands will contribute to 22 per cent of the mall area, thus strengthening our portfolio of outlets in Fujairah. We opened our first stores in Fujairah in the mid-nineties. The prospects for retailing in Fujairah have always been promising and we look forward to growing our presence in a bigger manner in the years to come," said Manu Jeswani, director of Landmark Group. A growing residential population has boosted the retail industry in the emirate. While it is not as developed as the two main retail centres, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, it is steadily growing. According to Euromonitor, consumers in Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah spent $460 million (Dh1.68 billion) on clothing and footwear last year, compared with $3.4 billion in Dubai and $3.5 billion in Abu Dhabi. Partnership Fujairah City Centre is located at the intersection of the new Fujairah-Dubai highway and the Masafi Highway at the entrance to the city. It is being developed jointly with the government owned Fujairah Investment Establishment and is estimated to be worth Dh400 million. |

MAF Properties’ shopping mall will create 1,200 jobs http://www.emirates247.com/business/...04-04-1.452322 ![]() Published Wednesday, April 04, 2012 Fujairah City Centre (SUPPLIED) Dh400-million Fujairah City Centre opened its doors today with more than 100 stores ready for shoppers on day one. The new centre introduces a diverse mix of new and internationally renowned brands, plus state-of-the-art entertainment and a wide range of food and beverage options to the UAE’s East Coast. Following special VIP tours for Fujairah’s government and guests, thousands of shoppers are expected to visit the mall in its first week of opening to experience amazing performances, fireworks, and other exciting family entertainment activities, while enjoying special in-store offers. Majid Al Fahim, Senior Mall Manager for Fujairah City Centre, told Emirates 24l7 last month that Fujairah City Centre “will create over 1,200 permanent job opportunities once open, contributing to the long-term sustainability of the surrounding community. The mall will boost the economic landscape of the emirate through job creation and by attracting retail, development and tourism opportunities into Fujairah.” Fujairah City Centre is the sixth strategic shopping mall in the UAE for Majid Al Futtaim Properties and the company’s 11th mall in the region. Today’s milestone marks Majid Al Futtaim Properties’ continued effort to introduce integrated lifestyle concepts into growing communities across the Middle East and North Africa. “For more than two decades, Majid Al Futtaim Properties has delivered world-class shopping and tourist destinations to the Middle East, pioneering the concept of pairing premium retail brands with compelling leisure attractions,” said Peter Walichnowski, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Properties. “Fujairah City Centre embodies this vision and reflects the customer-centric approach and design excellence of the ‘City Centre’ brand. This premium development reflects the growing residential and tourism aspirations of Fujairah, creating more than 1,200 jobs for the community, and highlighting the further customer demand for shopping and entertainment destinations in the UAE.” Fujairah City Centre was completed six weeks ahead of the original target opening date, with 99 per cent of its 105 retail stores and food and beverage outlets trading on the first day. |
