Yes I agree because it would be a lot easier to install the 2016 Olympic cauldron at the top for everybody to see unlike in London. But given the history of the PanPacific games in 2007, I highly doubt it will happen. More likely not.

The editors of newspapers in the southern and southeastern Brazil are a joke!

Do they really know that Natal is located approximately 500km from Maceió and both are Capitals of different states?

Something I really dislike of most WC 2014 projects is that the crowd will stay to far away from the field...

You're not the only one to say it! it's really a shame for the stadiums designers.

Still, it is closer than we, Brazilians, are used to...

I think this problem happens most in the old stadiums, since it Maracanã used to have a track field, the grandstand were already far away from the field. Same thing happens in Mineirão and others.
New stadiums built for the WC don't have much of this problem.

Guess. Grand Final Design, huh?
comparing the first single bowl design, that's the best, although still love South African World Cup Main Stadium (Soccer City Stadium).

Football is the people and the people filled maracana, so that was the largest stadium in the world. Too many boxes vips, have mutilated it. That was the greatness of this stadium: being the largest in the world. Now it is a modern Stadium, but normal. Imagine the Camp Nou with a capacity of 70,000? Maracana deserves at least 90,000, a second ring.

New richs…

It could fit much more than that. It already had 200.000 people in a single game. However, for the FIFA standards to host a final World Cup match, it will have its current capacity. Quality over quantity.
