East Midlands MEP Roger Helmer has just defected to UKIP, he claims David Cameron is out of touch with the Conservative grass roots and not conservative enough on Europe and wind farms.

What was the point of taking on the tree logo and claiming they'd be the greenest Government ever then?

Government on the back foot over the withdrawal of the child allowance plans. Tory backbenchers openly talking about refusing to support the legislation when it comes to parliament. Seems to be a growing concensus that the legislation will be watered down to next to nothing and the cash will be collected by cutting the housing stamp duty exemption for foreign buyers.
Sounds good to me. |

We should also get rid of that whole VAT back if you have an address that is outside of the UK when leaving the UK.

New poll in the Guardian has Tories up to 39% and Labour on 36%. Quite amazing given the unpopular legislation the coalition is pushing through at the moment. They must fancy their chances once they at last get to announce voter friendly policy. Most of the problem is the shambles on the opposition bench. Ed Balls in particular is unlikeable and tarnished with the mistakes of the past. Much as he may be the darling of the party they really need to think about bringing in a new face.

Can't see Balls going anywhere, he's a heavyweight in the party and they have no one else to touch him when it comes to economics.
A bit like Brown back in the day actually. |

The papers seem to think that the voters actually feel that Cameron is up to the job of sorting our countries finance out... to be honest, as much as its a shit time.. I would tend to sway to agree with that.
