Really? I felt depressed it was so dreary. That was during winter though, might be better in summer.

It was much nicer in the Spring. I have also been there in Winter and it does have an element of Communist chic to it at that time.

I went for Oktoberfest which was fucking amazing but would love to go back during late spring or summer.

+1. I was very sceptical about Oktoberfest but it was an absolute blast. So much fun! I've also been to Munich during the Spring and it's a really nice city to wander through.

I don't remember much about Munich funnily enough but I went to Dachau with a gigantic hangover and I remember that.

Lol. My favourite is the Schneiderweiss one. Awesome beers, great food and less touristy than the Hofbrauhaus (which is still worth visiting).

Catchiest song ever. First day back in the office I couldn't stop humming it and literally everyone around the office who hadn't even gone was humming it after a few hours.

...for the uninitiated, you have to sing along when this is played and then take a big gulp/skull of beer at the end. It literally comes on at random intervals a few times every hour, all day in each hall.

So if any well seasoned travellers want to reccomend anywhere that I should check out (Bars, markets, food etc) it would be appreciated. Always nice to have something to keep an eye out for. Looking forward to bar-hopping my way through Spain. As I mentioned earlier the plan is Madrid, Barcelona, southern france (Marseille, Lyon, aix-en-provence?), London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague (maybe Vienna), Munich, Venice, Paris.
