I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Montreal or Calgary.
Vancouver skyline is like New york's but them someone decided to take a rasor blade to it and cut it off at 30 stories. It's setting is spectacular but the architecture is sub-par with very little height variance. I find Vancouver's skyline density great but Seattle's is spectacular. |

Great pic of St. Louis. I can't say I've ever given much thought to it before, but that pic makes it look spectacular!

An interesting Infrared image of Minneapolis, showing the West Bank skyline and the Main skyline together...by Moss Fotografica.
Nice density...

Good density, but rather bland architecture unfortunately. Nothing really sticks out for me.

I think Minneapolis has a very attractive skyline, but I would agree that it is not recognizable. You'd be hard-pressed to find an average American who would recognize the skyline based on a picture (unless they: A. Live there or are from there, or B. Are a city nerd like all of us). To the majority of people, it looks like "any city USA." That's not a bad thing, because it definitely looks respectable and fairly large, but not particularly distinguished. Granted, there is only a small handful of American city skylines that average people would recognize.

Bland? Well to each his own I guess! I would say a skyline like Minneapolis' which is defined by buildings designed by Philip Johnson (arguably his masterpiece), Cesar Pelli, Minoru Yamasaki, Jean Nouvel, SOM, I.M.Pei, Kohn Pederson Fox and Gunnar Birkerts, is pretty much above average.
