London - entirely expensive city.
so let's take compare prices

so what the fun needs for?
- visa
- flight
- hotel for two weeks
- food
- transport
- stadium tickets

so
London / Moscow
- visa - $220 / $50
- flight - well, may be even
- hotel - ? / $700
- food - in moscow cheaper in times...
- transport
a. Metro - up to $10 / up to 45 cents
b. Bus - ? / 38 cents
c. Light rails - ? / 38 cents
d. Intercity rails - ? / nothing because everything supposed to be in one city
- tickets - ? / well, usually price for typical football match is about $3

if you think that fun needs for something else, post it

i wonder to see same prices for madrid and paris, i think it should be even lower than london...

Hurt me where? You want prices to be lowered so poor people from around the world can come to the games. Yet you didn't mention how they would manage to get to London from a rural peasants farm in sub-Saharan Africa - discount subsidised flights, food, accomodation, tickets, transport - that is what you are suggesting. Coth your widely known for bullshit, so I really wouldn't start anything now.

Mercer’s survey covers 144 cities across six continents and measures the comparative cost of over 200 items in each location, including housing, transport, food, clothing, household goods and entertainment. It is the world’s most comprehensive cost of living survey and is used to help multinational companies and governments determine compensation allowances for their expatriate employees.

1 - Tokyo
2 - Osaka
3 - London
4 - Moscow

Sorry Coth - I think I'll take Mercer's word over yours. Moscow also has lower salaries than London which means its more harder to live - a legacy from the Soviets.

always seems strange that we had to host it in 48. We were devestated by the war. America was untouched.

exactly, we never won a bid. We were called upon to host it and keep the Olympic movement going in times of trouble.

I think that the IOC should start putting limits on how many times a city can host the olympics, so that cities that never had it before will get a fair chance to have it.

Umm, no because imagine in 100 years time, people of that generation would not have the oppurtunity to see the Olympics in thier city either. Its a lose, lose situation if you do what you are suggesting.

After Moscow’s Elimination Muscovites Still Thought They Were In The 2012 Race
Posted 1:45 pm ET (GamesBids.com)

It may have been a language barrier, but the crowds near Moscow’s Red Square were still cheering the city’s bid more than an hour after it was eliminated from the race for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

The Moscow Times reports that at 2:28 p.m. Moscow was eliminated from the 2012 bid. But the first the crowd that gathered near Red Square knew about it was when the final result was announced more than an hour later, at 3:49 p.m. Reporters who tried to tell people on the square about the decision were dismissed or called “provocateurs” with many refusing to believe the result.

The emcees on the stage continued to talk of Moscow as if it was a favourite long after the city had lost.

It was right. In terms of security it was better do not say it immediately.

Just thought I would send my condolences to Londoners, for the attacks this morning .

-I'd hate to be the emcees when the decision was finally announced, lol.

And they were complaining with Soufian for starting this new thread just 10 days before the announcement.

The other thread would have well over 1000 replys.

You have to remember that many cities are not capable of hosting the Olympics, even if they wanted to. Remember how stupid it seemed that Havana was in the 2012 race?
