I think it was time a South American city should host the Olympics in 2016 or 2020, as it never has done before. Mexico City doesn't count as this is not in South America.

It should go to Buenos Aires if Brazil get the world cup in 2014. Then Argentinians needn't be disheartened

THE Pantheon is in Rome, Giorgios. Although there may be one in Athens also, which I am not aware of.

2016 Olympics (there is an eclectic mix of cities and countries in this selection - however I will try to do my best):

Busan South Kokea - no, South Korea hosted it in 1988.
Chile - South America has never hosted so is an interesting prospect - continent probably deserves it. I believe one of the rings represents it.
Delhi India - Too polluted (They dont even play cricket games there)
Dubai UAE - Maybe - very hot, but would be wonderful to see an Arab country host.
Hamburg Germany - London 2012... cant see it being in Europe again.
Japan - Maybe - 1964 was a long time ago, and did a bang up job of World Cup.
Kenya - nice in theory - South Africa before Kenya. As per Chile and South America, Africa probably deserves it, and I believe one of the rings represents it... but we may see the winter olympics in hell before it happens.
Italy - no, same as Hamburg
Minneapolis USA - who would know? Perhaps. Funny that Ted Turner bought the Olympics to Atlanta, but Rupert Murdoch never got it for his home town Adelaide. (Look out for Adelaide 2016 - if Fox News can keep Bush, Cheney et al in power.....)
Moscow Russia - too unstable, but if one of the Russian uberbillionaires can get behind the bid (like Chelsea FC) who knows???
Portugal - same as Hamburg and Italy
Rotterdam Netherlands - same as Hamburg and Italy and Portugal
st petersburg Russia - As per Moscow - but probably more appealing - still...
San Diego USA - well it will have been 20 years since the last one in the US. Probably more appealing than Minneapolis.
Tel Aviv Israel - I dont think it would be a popular choice, at least at this stage in time.

So I reckon Chile, Dubai, Japan, and San Diego of the list presented.

Rotterdam is still not even trying, so just scrap it from any 2016 lists completely.

Madrid.

But if in 2012 will be in Europe, in 2016 will be away from Europe.

If Russia were to become and open and democratic society after Putin leaves, I would give it to them.

Not keen at all about totalitarian regimes staging Olympics. Disgraceful how China got the games. Anyone hear of the army massacre in western China yesterday?

I don't think the IOC would allow for a city to have the olympics on consecutive occasions.

Well Madrid, and Tokyo can be knocked off that list with the upcoming games in Bejing and London. And most likely Moscow won't try again after its recent failures. I would say its legitimately down to two U.S. cities, two South American cities, and maybe one or two cities from Africa.
