Definitely Dubai. It is the only city on the list as phoney, useless, pretentious, irrelevant and utterly boring as the Olympic Games themselves.

NO 2016 N.Y. OLYMPIC RUN

AP

May 4, 2006 -- After losing its bid for the 2012 summer Olympics, New York isn't even in the ballpark for the 2016 Games.

U.S. Olympic Committee officials said yesterday they'll visit Houston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco over the next two weeks in the first step toward finding a city to serve as America's candidate. "Those are the cities we committed to go with," said USOC chairman Peter Ueberroth.

A mayoral spokesman said New York is over its Olympic fascination.

"We have no intention of submitting a bid at this time," said Stu Loeser, a spokesman for Mayor Bloomberg.

i was wondering why they chose Ny to bid in the first place, we all knew it would end up in tears

wow, pretty big news actually. I kinda feel that the next U.S. olympic city should be NYC but if they don't want it.........

That gives Chi-town and S.F. (also very good possiable choices) a good shot at hosting (either city is not a bad consolation prize in the least)

I know that most would think that NYC originally lost the bid b/c of the fact that the West Side Stadium, that was to built at the Hudson Yds, was cancelled, but I doubt that was what the IOC was really saying as the main factor.

2016 Olympics: US nomination

I know there is another 2016 Olympics poll out there, but I would love to see which American city comes in first on this one. There is no need for further explanation, pick your horse on the 5 way race for the national nomination.

The 5 cities on the poll list are those that are being considered by the USOC at the time. Cities like New York, San Diego, and Washington are not being considered by the USOC.

New York was snubbed by the USOC on their list of "cities under consideration."

Apparently San Diego and Tijuana plan on submitting a bi-national bid for the 2016 games.

Here is the website: www.tjsd.org

For the options above I would have to choose Chicago or San Francisco

Maybe Houston to show the world what southern U.S. is all about

It still is the best candidate that the USA can throw in.

No reason for olympics in USA. Last time they hosted it was a disaster.

YEAH, LETS GIVE THE AMERICANS THE OLYMPICS AGAIN. THE GUY WITH THE STARTER PISTOL WOULD BE INVADED FOR HAVING A WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION. (2000 AMERICAN SOLDIERS WOULD LOSE THEIR LIVES THROUGH FRIENDLY FIRE & BEING GENERALLY CRAP).

Well, overlooking the stupidety of your argument, American will generaly be chosen as host every 20 years or so, because of the massive amount of money both NBC and american sponsors like Coca-Cola and McDonalds pour into the games... Call it an unspoken rule.

After China and England, it is very likely that American is next, if they can deliver a great bid. Personaly i dont believe in Houston or Philadelphia. They dont have the money to pull it of. And Los Angeles has already done it once. So I am guessing either Chicago or San Fransisco, with Chicagos strong sports tradition and city feeling as a front runner....
