It's really the main stadium that's the issue. Either you build something temporary and dismantle it later or you convince some team to move here like the NFL (unlikely) or convert it into something else which is costly but then still has use.

MIAMI for 2016 Olympics

Miami is a wonderful City. One of the most beautiful in the States. It attracts many tourists and if the olympics are hosted there in 2016 summer even more tourists are gonna visit it.And because of the many spaniards living there it would be like Madrid hostin the games so Spain would be happy too.

The got everything they need to host the games. Many hotels, good airport, Dolphin Stadium,Miami Orange Bowl,American Airlines Arena and so on.All they need is an olympic stadium.

Atlanta just hosted it in 96, who is so sure that USA will get a chance again, when so many other countries didnt get a chance?

Dont get me wrong, MIAMI will be a cool venue.

Not the US again.

After the TOTAL failure and screw up of Atlanta, wait another 50 years like everybody else.

The olympics are not an American thing.

The five possible U.S host cities (S.F., Chi, LA, Philly, Hou) have already been chosen as finalist by the USOC. Miami would have been a good choice to throw its hat in the ring earlier though.

Could be a good reason to choose Miami for the Olympic Games in 2016. Always beautiful weather, excellent hotel accomodations, Miami is a well-known city all over the world, it stands for pleasure, sunshine, happiness etc.

Because america needs to get the games once in about every 20 years, simply because of the massive amount of money US sponsors contribute to the game. Call it an unspoken rule, that noone talks about, but that everyone knows and agrees on...

So yeah, I think that the US will get the games in 2016...If they can provide the right candidate and not screw it up....And no, Miami will not be that candidate....

It is too humid in the summer. You wouldn't see too many broken records unless most of the events were hosted in doors. I'd love to see the olympics come to my home town. I will be the first to speculate that they'd use Virginia Key for the Olympic Stadium.

If not Miami, maybe Havana 2016, it's the closest city to Miami to be able to host the Olympics . But they truly took the competition for the 2012 Olympics .

Miami is a nice city, but not an Olympic city. If we are talking about cities in the US hosting the games, then there ae many more able cities than Miami.

^i agree with you entirely. trust me Miami would be a great city in the future, but i dont think the athletic and housing/hotel facilities, transit or other infrastructural items would be ready by 2016 and the summers here are deadly hot and torrential downpours are frequent.
