This was the stadium for the 2012 bid, I don't know if it would be used again in a new bid, and whether or not it will be built without Olympics (for Atletico?). And I doubt if Madrid can get the Olympics in 2016, 4 years after London.
The stadium will be converted to the home of Atletico Madrid.
Videos on youtube will show its conversion from athletics to football and how it would be made possible.

The construction of a New stadium in Rio probably will not happen. Now that Brazil won the host of WC 14 and Maracana will be totally rebuilt, they dont want to spend more money with a posible white elephant stadium. Rio already has the modern Joao Havelange, Maracana will be perfect. Rio only has 4 great football teams: Vasco, Flamengo, Fluminense and Botafogo.

Vasco da Gama has it own stadium
Botafogo uses Joao Havelange Stadium
Fluminense and Flamengo both uses Maracana but both are planing construction of new small staidum (4400) so Barra´s olympic stadium is unecessary.

I don't want Rio building another new stadium, Mo. Rio just built the Joao Havelange Stadium, and a second new stadium would just be a waste of money. However, the Joao Stadium is too small for the ceremonies and I don't know how we can fit an athletics track on Maracana Stadium (we may have to remove some of the lowermost seats).

Brazil? Never!
I am braziliam and I don't like Rio too much. But WTF are you saying?!

Maracana stadium seems to be a classic one. Definitely the best choice to host the olympic ceremonies. After all it wil have hosted two FIFA World Cup Final in 2014, Pan-American Games cereonies and why not the Olympic ones.

Rio won't organize the Olympics, especially after 2 years after the Football World Cup.

LOL, The Olympic Comitee, never gives the olympics to country who just hosted something as big as the Football World Cup.
