Is Doha the only city making an effort for the 2016 Olympics? Chicago doesn't have to make allot of noise about it because they already have most of there venues already built, which i think will feed to Chicago's Momentum, I also think an awesome view would be watching the Rowing in Lake michigan with the Chicago skyline in the background.

yes it does look kindaa like the rejected design but it will look diffrent it will have 70,000 seats and the other half of the stadium will also get a covering here is the main idea:

The plan for Khalifa stadium includes demolishing the original 1970’s east stand and replacing with a new 40,000 seat stand with a room that is symmetrical with the 2005 west stand.
This will complete the planned renovation of Khalifa Stadium begun for the 2006 Asian Games and will provide a 70,000 seat outdoor venue for the Asian Football Championships in
2011 and the Athletics, Football and the Ceremonies within our 2016 Bid.

Allowed to enter??

oR invited!

They can say that but most middle eastern countries scorn Israel.

I Choose Chicago, obviously.

but a bid from Quatar, or the UAE is posibble in the next 15 years!

Both, Baku and Doha are able to host these games if their bids will win.

How would Qatar deal with any nation's athletes that decide not to participate against Israel? Will they disqualify them?

I think any of these citys would make awesome host citys. Personally I think Doha is working the hardest and wants it more than anyone else but . Chicago will most likely win because of its infrastructure and economic power.

yeah because IOC members vote based on infrastructure and economic power. Cities make the shortlist because of infrastructure and economic power. Cities win votes and bids based on reasons some only IOC voting members will know, of which some may be infrastructure.

Tony Blair's Singapore hotel room, July 2005

Tony: please vote for us because of our economic power and infrastructure
IOC member: ok

-Maybe our Olympic Stadium will look like a circus, maybe we will not give money to make it comparable to Athens or Beijing or Sydney stadium (stupid Greeks, Aussies and Spaniards who spent such amounts), but we will still be an economic super power!
-Ok!

I highly doubt they spoke about Olympic stadia or economic power. Who knows if they did any talking at all.

Well I don't want to get this discussion to derailed. But for instance in other international events I know some Iranians have refused to compete against Israeli athletes as a form of protest or non-recognition. Would Qatar be ready to have such athletes disqualified who do refuse to compete against Israel?

I think Chicago will win it, just for one reason: it is located in the USA, north hemisphere, and it is time for an american city to host the olympic games.

However USA is the major greenhouse gases emitter in the world, it did not follow kyoto protocol and it is permanently under threat of terror. These do not seem to harmonize with a olympic bid, do they?

Rio has big problems with crime and public transport. Some solutions are underway, with or without the 2016 olympic games, since there is the 2014 world cup and the city will host the final match.

But i still think Chicago will be the winner.
