However good Madrid's bid is Barcelona has scuppered it for a while, Madrid has a better chance in 2020/24. (although now i have said that it'll probably get 2012 )

Why don’t you stop whining all the time with the same stuff don’t you have anything else to do? It is getting quite boring...

They are supposed to judge the quality of the bid and not the country of location because in that case New York would have even less chances…

To me:

Madrid
Paris
Moscow
London
New York

I think that the Olimpic Games in Madrid will probably be the chaos. Despite this, I voted for Madrid XD

OK I'm bored of everyone saying how bad the London weather is. Plus why does London have a reputation for being foggy - it can only be foggy about once a year - i'm sure it's to do with Sherlock Holmes films.

I put these together to show how London isn't bad at all. I personally think Madrid is too hot for Summer olympics for the atheletes with London and Paris being - not too cold or hot. Not much rain either.

And the Oscar goes to....España!

It´s like to say: And the games go to... Madrid!

Jokes apart, I think that Madrid has a very solid candidature. I hope it will win.

We won´t know what´s going to happen until july in Singapore, but stats are telling that the race is going to be between Paris and Madrid.

The biggest problem about Paris is it poor communications. Distances between stadiums are enourmous. (And dont ask about going to downtown, around an hour by train from St-Denis). Plus, in modern olympics the environment is taking more and more importance for the final vote: Madrid is far infront of the parisian capital is this sense.

As for London, NY, Moscow,... maybe next time.

Which stats? Are you refering to the grading for the technical bids? The betting has Madrid as an outsider. What is the real story people?

Oh this thread has been posted and highlighted in Spanish forums, thats why ist got such a big boost over the last day. lol

Umm, now if were honest Africa as a continent hasnt hosted the Olympics twice in 15 years so you think the IOC will allow Spain to get it again.

Now be serious, use your common sense. Its not hard to work out.

You are wrong:
The RER from Saint-Denis stadium to Paris centre takes 20 min NOT 1 hour.

Anyway, my vote goes 4 MAD!!

A team from Birmingham was invited to visit the Spanish capital for the European Athletics Indoor Championships and a reception was organised to promote Birmingham’s staging of the European Athletics Indoor Championships at the NIA in March 2007. This included a special video about the city and its sporting heritage.

The previous day a team from Madrid 2012 hosted a reception to promote their Olympic bid but Birmingham’s was seen to be more impressive as Jason Henderson, editor of Athletics Weekly commented: “Madrid 2012’s media presentation was arguably upstaged by the team organising the 2007 European Indoor Championships in Birmingham. The Birmingham 2007 event was attended by IAAF president Lamine Diack and London 2012 bid leader Seb Coe. It was also packed with British journalists.”

The European Athletics Indoor Championships will see the continents’ best athletes competing in Birmingham for medals and glory and will be staged at the NIA from 2-4 March. Not only will this event mean extensive world wide media coverage for the city but with 600 athletes from more than 40 countries participating and around 15,000 spectators filling the NIA, the economic impact for Birmingham is expected to exceed £3 million.

Brian Stocks, Championships Director, said: “We were delighted with the success of our presentation, which helped to highlight Birmingham as the next host city. Through staging the World Indoor Championships in 2003 we have clearly shown that Birmingham is among the best in the world when it comes to staging major sports events. The excellent attendance and response to our presentation demonstrates how well Birmingham is regarded at the highest levels in the athletics world.”
