Yeah, but not many athletic events other than the olympics would ever get the crowds.

London allready will have
Wembley footally stadium - 90,000 capacity
Twickenham Rugby stadium - 83,000?
Emirates stadium - 60,000 +
And other quite large football stadiums.

the reduction I presume will be to help maintainance costs - but at least it will still get used. I would hope that they could turn the outside area into world class gyms and sports halls complex for Londoners to use for a variety of sports and a reasonable price.

Infact its very clever. Do you think a stadium of that size is sustainable when it will only host a couple events per year? 25,000 will be plenty big enough for Athletcis and Concerts etc.

Plus Birmingham is the UK's Athletics capital.

London musnt get the olympics, I think that the most hard working cities to get them are, absolutely Paris, and then Madrid, London is too much sure that it will win them.

London is working very hard to get the olympics and would you care to back up that statement with proof? London should be confident about winning. It has a very good chance.

london is working both sides, the official one, as the others cities, and another way not so clean, for the things we are listening and reading since this started, remember, trying to buy votes at the begining, the false figures about the real support from the londoners...
till now, nobody heard something wrong from madrid candidature, we just work the best we can, not talking, not giving false news, not talking against the other cities, and not saying...we are the best and we'll get it sure. just fair play, the 5 cities are playing, but i'm afraid some are playing in 'better' conditions, not so clear to me...

^ your media really needs to get the facts right. No one in the London bid bought votes. It was a trap by a BBC programme called 'Panorama' that pretended to be from the London bid and revealed the corruption still in the IOC. The London2012 team had no part in Panorama's investigations whatsoever - as the IOC members well know.

Try these links:

Just some news articles from the people who caught the IOC with their hands dirty

The amount of times some forumers not from the UK have said that London is trying to buy votes is incredible. IT DID NOT try to buy votes. As Madman said a BBC Programme uncovered bribery in the system which was unrelated to London 2012. It seems your media focuses on saying untrue facts about other bids, especially London, instead of the positive points about your own bid. Give me some hard evidence to show that London isn't playing fair??

PARIS is hiding more than u people know but thats all im saying for now, new york should not be overlooked dont be suprised to see them get more votes than expected, watch the press as things unfold.u peopl are forgetting that panorama did not simply reveal all the evidence they have, any release that cud harm any other bid just coincidentally before the JULY 06 vote could be DISASTROUS for paris, new york, madrid and suprisingly even for MOSCOW

So that rules out anything its journalists have to say? What an idiotic statement! The BBC is one of if not the most respected broadcaster in the world. Its news is regarded as impartial.

You really should do some research on the BBC and its history.
