There is absolutely no joke, and if all people are killed in 2012 ?

Well, whatever i don't care of Madrid, it is not the biggest rival.

My personal opinion is that London's bid still stands on it's own merits, the best of the bids, still more than holding it's own despite the fact they haven't put their shows on yet, unlike Paris and Madrid. Too much too soon. There's still a month to go. Just wait until you see what London has planned for the last week!

An egg and spoon race, by the entire cabinet down the Mall. Gordon Brown has apparently been in training, but Prescott is an outsider tipped by some people, and if he doesn't eat the egg first has a good chance of going all the way. Of course Blair is quite competive, so we'll see.

We're gonna be cool and do nothing.

And the IOC will be like

'hmmm there confident, they're not trying to impress us with concerts and shows...lets give it to them....Cool Britannia'

What a despicable post!!!

Unfortunately, in the world that we live nowadays, nobody is safe from a terrorist attack, anywhere. You should know that Al Qaeda claimed responsability of that bombings in Madrid Atocha. All of us Madrilenians know someone died or wounded that day. I hope you'd never be involved in a tragedy like that.

So Paris is a terrorism-free city?

It's not, sadly. Neither is any other candidate city.

lol, @ the best and only womens football match you have seen. By chance it actually goes for me too.

Below are a few pictures (taken with my phone) of a big event on the edge of London called the Epsom Derby, with the biggest prize in the world (I think) for a horse race.

Hundreds of thousands of people attended, and is just one of many examples of how London manages large events.

Beamon accused London of a “fundamental breach” of an Olympian’s right to control his own image and demanded that London withdraw the brochure, but Sebastian Coe, head of London 2012, has refused. London bid spokeswoman Jackie Brock-Doyle said Friday, “no, we are not planning to withdraw it”.

London 2012 issued a media release Friday saying, “we have received a letter from Bob Beamon regarding the use of a photograph of his magnificent long jump performance in Mexico City in 1968. This photograph formed part of a montage of photographs in a London 2012 brochure celebrating unforgettable memories from Olympic history. It was supplied by the world-renowned photo agency, Getty Images, as part of our contractual relationship and used in accordance with our agreement with the agency. The use of the photograph was in no way meant to imply support for the London bid but rather to celebrate great Olympic moments which are recognized across the globe”.

By the way, why does the title saystolen and the artical say otherwise? Misleading biased stories here perhaps?

Race For 2012 Summer Olympics Could be Photo Finish
Posted 2:17 pm ET (GamesBids.com)

On the eve of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Evaluation Commission report on the five cities bidding to host the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, it seems that Paris, considered the front-runner, is, according to British media reports, no longer such a threat. According to sources quoted in the British media, London is catching up and it could be a photo finish.

Both the Independent and the Observer quote unnamed sources saying that London and Paris will both get “brilliant” reports.

According to the Independent, the report will seal a remarkable comeback for London, which was heavily criticized by the IOC just 12 months ago for the poor transport system and low public support for the Games.

An IOC member told the Observer, “(the report) is going to show that there’s little now to choose between London and Paris. London is now back on song and is now feared by the other cities. Paris is slightly ahead in the running, I would say, but by July it could all be up for grabs. London has a great chance”.

A report in the Observer says when the evaluation report is released tomorrow it will say that London is as well equipped as the favourite Paris to stage the Games. According to the Observer insiders say the report will confirm that London would hold a well-run Games. It will praise London for having made major progress in improving three areas previously identified as the weaknesses, the city’s transport system, and the level and public and political support of the 2012 campaign.

One informed Olympic source told the Guardian, “it’s going to show that there’s little now to choose between London and Paris”.

An overseas IOC member who is still undecided who to vote for told the Observer that London was gaining momentum as Paris, the favourite since campaigning began 30 months ago, was fading”.

IOC members say bid chairman Sebastian Coe’s leadership and Prime Minister Tony Blair’s high profile backing are boosting London’s chances.

London 2012 head Sebastian Coe told the Independent Sunday, “there is real commitment to this bid right across the UK. An extraordinary amount of effort and work has gone into delivering a strong and exciting technical bid that has the finance, planning permission and guarantees in place for a sensational London Games in 2012”.

Meanwhile Paris is confident its bid will score highly when the inspection report is released Monday. Paris spokesman Jerome L’Enfant said, “we expect the report to endorse our bid and the vision we share with the IOC of a fantastic Olympics in Paris”.

But he admitted Paris had some “very, very strong competition” referring to London.

He told BBC radio, “Paris has a very strong track record of organizing major events and this is exactly what we want to show to the world and the IOC members. Paris is ready to host the Games. Paris is a very warm and welcoming city, and it has a fantastic sense of both celebration and organization”.
