its bizarre we are nationalistic in the sense that we look around and think everyone is better than us and we should be the best.

As much as I hate to say it....if we had the same mentality like they do in the US, this would be a better place...

Im talking about patrotism....if something bad happens they dont moan about it for weeks....they take it on the chin and get on with it!

Yeh, but our mentality makes us strive to get things better. Plus its "The British Public" who are the ones actually put Britain down. we batter ourselves to make us better.

That over-hype patrotism thing in the US does make me laugh however.

And we are the water-polo guys who all the little girls fancy and all the little boys wanna be...

P.S You're also the butt of many jokes in our fine country, patrotism is one of them. I watched "Extreme Makeover" today and enjoyed it immensly although when the went to demolish the house they carried American flags with them as if they were marching to war. I couldnt stop laughing.

P.S We also love you, like you love us and we both hate Europe

HEY! The U.S.A. was founded as a free country... free for white, Protestant, male and somewhat wealthy land-owners.

My apologies for The Mad Hatter... I usually don't hear that kind of redneck narrow-mindedness out of a progressive city like Miami.

Don't worry all you non-American forumers, I'm here to CLEAN OUT THE TRASH!!!

Kenya has a bid for 2016 so it thinks it has the French IOC members support, its got nothing to do with loyalty but self-interest.

Paris 2012 – The People’s Choice
Posted 1:41 pm ET (GamesBids.com)

Paris 2012 is number one among the majority of consumers in 38 countries according to an ACNielsen survey conducted with Internet users in 38 countries. The majority of the world’s Internet population voted Paris as their number one choice of host city for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.

Alistair Watts, Managing Director, of ACNielsen Pacific said, “the majority of respondents in 27 out of 38 markets surveyed chose Paris as their preferred host for the Olympic Games in 2012, followed by Madrid and London as their joint second”.

The online study was conducted among more than 21,26l Internet users in early May.

Across the world’s regions Paris ranked number one in Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America.

Thirty two per cent of New Zealanders voted Paris in first place, London followed at 25 per cent, while Madrid and Moscow both received 12 per cent of the vote. New York came in last with 10 per cent.

The ACNielsen survey found that patriotism and self-interest prevails when it comes to the popular choice of a host city.

Eighty one per cent of the French voted for Paris, 57 percent of Spaniards voted for Madrid, 85 per cent of Russians voted for Moscow, 68 per cent of the British voted for London and 44 per cent of Americans voted for New York.

Globally the biggest supporters for Paris were the Chinese at 52 per cent, followed by Belgians (48 per cent) and Greeks (40 per cent), Madrid was supported by the Portuguese (27 per cent), Brazilians (25 per cent) and Italians (23 per cent). The main supporters for London’s bid came from neighbouring Ireland (39 per cent) and Commonwealth nations New Zealand (25 per cent) and Australia (22 per cent).

Of interest, across all 38 countries, one in six respondents thought none of the five cities should host the 2012 Games. This was felt most strongly in Latin America where one in five thought the 2012 Summer Games should be held somewhere else. Also, nearly half of the Turkish and a quarter of Thais, Poles and Chileans felt the same.

But internet users are still a narrow bunch, mainly english speakers or can understand english, also they tend to be younger than the average age, more affluent and predominantly white.
