Unfortunately some of the restoration are rather dissapointing, of course im not expecting it to be built in the exact same way... but still.. im concerned about the restoration that's going on in places that's not Jakarta, Bandung or Surabaya.

Not much is left, but what's left is among the oldest in the Dutch empire. Fort Kyk-over-Al, Guyana, before 1620.

The above painting (Connoisseurs in a picture gallery by the Flemish school) shows windows with upper and under blinds. You sometimes see those blinds in older Flemish and Dutch paintings.

When I was in Washington, they still had those upper and under part blinds, which at present almost totally disappeared in the Northern and Southern Netherlands. It was said to me those blinds which at present are known as French blinds, in fact originated in the Netherlands.

Does anyone know more about it? Is this something remaining from the Dutch presence?

Hard to imagine anything as beautiful as the simplicity of Cape Dutch houses.

Can you please post a picture of the above mentioned type of blinds. The first link you inserted somehow does not work so I don't know exactly how to answer your question.
