I believe EA and Maxis are focusing on Spore rather the Simcity 5 at this point in time. However there is little doubt that Sim City 5 is on the planning boards.

Games like spore are just a filler for the big one, sim city 5. I hear they want to use spore to test out new disk formats to use on sim city 5.

I have a ton of ideas for a SimCity 5.

Transit
I think that there should be light rail stations on the tracks, like there are for elevated rail and monorail (they have those in Minnesota). Also, tolls shouldn't increase traffic because of SpeedPass. Another thing is that there should be avenue overpasses.

Privatized
I think there should be an option for education, health, and power to be privatized (it's also like that in Minnesota).

These historical ideas are great, but they're just not SimCity. If you want to play a game like that, play Civilization...excellent historical city building, empire conquesting game.

Anyways my suggestions- (bear in mind I am playing SimCity 3K)
-Pedestrian Mode-Step in the shoes of a pedestrian and experience your city and the people around. Ride on subways, drive cars, go sight seeing, its up to you! (LMAO I sound like the description of the game on the box).
-Internet Regions- Imagine regions making up worlds, say 10 regions in a world. In this you can host international competitions, developement rivalrys, economic cooperation, fusion of cities.
-In these different regions, have different architectual designs, cultures, customs, national games, religions (made up of course, lol @ Llamism, Metropolism)
-3D Immersive graphics...

Please give some feedback on these ideas, thanks!

One thing i would like to see is work on the regional game paly dynamics. It would work something like this:

Region- All landforming, highways/major roads, power grid, and airports/seaports would be built and controlled from here.

City- Main roads, transit, emergency services, and education would be on this level.

Community- all zoning, local roads, parks, and other "eye candy" (like trees, ingame building editing) stuff would be on this level.

Neighbourhood- all sims, and interactions with your city and sims would be on this level.

Weather, Physics, New disasters (more realistic), and more varaiety, selection, and realism to the buildings woudl be musts.

Also HDR lighting (bloom effect of the sun on light surfaces), realistic water, ral time reflections in skyscrapers, and shining metal/glass would be enabled duet advances in video card technology.

I believe it may be hard to add weather especially with the speed toggle that we use..

Add park zoning! I'm tired of small-medium-large variety parks..

Tired of putting civic buildings (police, fire etc etc) near the edge of the map because of its "circle territory"? It should continue towards the adjacent city..

Pollution should carry over the adjacent cities as well..

Heres somthing simple I would like to see: I would like to be able to rotate the camera to any degree or elevation, like in the sims 2. I would also like to see the whole building style thing taken to a new step, not just with buildings, but with cars as well. It would also be cool to see a wider variety of buildings. How often do you see an entire city block of the same building? I think the random number generator(s) for this part of the game are partly to blame for this...

EDIT: I would also like to see waterfalls too...

true. I hate it when they put 5 of the same skyscrapers right next to each other. and also more cars on the road.
There also isn't enough of a variety of houses. i think they need more. a lot more.

I would like to see the cities to have more history something like back to the late 18th century or early 19th. And please respect for the historic architectural styles....not standard suburban homes in 1900!!! or cars!!!!

Also, dirty dusted road without that pavement in early years, and if you cannot manage to rise your incomes....well...your city won't be able to handle the idea of having asphalt roads or at least not everywhere. Also would be good to have cobblestoned ones.

Finally to have the game zoomed in a GTA level and be able to drive or walk across the city.

And all this stuff is possible since next versions will surely be available only on DVD instead of CD, something like the next Flight Simulator X version.

I forgot to mention this earlier, but this site has a mod package called the Network Addon Mod, which includes lots of things that people have said they wanted, such as cul de sacs (don't know the spelling), turning lanes on roads, new interchanges, and many other things. There are also downloadable things such as roadside bus and subway stops, and tools for making sunken highways. So check it out at http://www.simtropolis.com/index.cfm

yup, I have that download, it works pretty good.
I also want to see better nightlighting. Whenever you go out to a far view of the city to see it lit up, it just doesn't look like a single light is on. If I'm trying to create a Las Vegas style city with nothing but lights and casinos, I can't do that. Some buildings in Sim City 5 need to give off more light.

Optional Simulations, Disasters, Extended God Mode Possibilities, Etc.

I think that there should be simulations that you must stop or if evil, you can make happen.

Ideas: Plane Hijackings, Nuclear Meltdown (causing explosion), Prison Breakouts

Also, we should have alot more disasters.

Ideas: Floods, Hurricanes, (return) acid rain, (return) whirlpools, Alien attack/invasion like independence day and war of the worlds

Finally, in GOD Mode, you should be able to move the ground up and down, etc. make mountains even when your city is established.

ONE LAST THING. If you want to wipe out your city completelly, instead of a large white flash, you should get to choose how it ends.

Ideas: Nuclear Holocaust, Giant Asteroid Strike, Armageddon (religious end), weather situation like the Core or the Day After Tomorrow.

Tell me what you think and what year is Sim City 5 coming out?

I would also like to see live reflections in skyscraper glass, so the skyline would look more realistic. Also the ability to look at you skyline from ground level.

Also making buildings alot easier to build (perhaps an ingame tool) is another major possibility, since Maxis is now focusing on games that have increased user friendliness to the content editors (ie spore).

If you've every played the A6 or A7 series by Artdink; its a japanese game, but this game allows horizontal views of your city. Unfortunately it is not a city building simulator, its a railroad building simulator, cities just start making themselves around your railroad so you have very little control over how your city looks. The graphics are pretty good but there are no natural disasters, you cannot reshape the terrain, and its aimed toward a strictly japanese market so if you're a foreigner you would first not be able to read anything because its all in japanese and second you might find the buildings and everything around them to be strangly foreign. I personally like the simcity series better.

I would like to see simcity5 have the same thing they had for simcity 3000 unlimited. In simcity3000unlimited you could choose your buliding types between Asian/European/North American. You could also choose if your terrain were going to be like Hawaii or Siberia. I didn't like that but i wish it would snow, and then come spring floods, and maybe storms and thunder. Hurricanes, typhoons, monsoons, and some more crazy natural phenomenons. Like sand storms or maybe a plauge.

I want neighboring cities to effect neighboring cities; i would rather like to see an infinite world where you can start building as soon as you start the game and where you wouldn't have to worry about building new cities and such, just one huge terrain, all connected. That way you could have multiple cities all working at once in one simulation at the same time and you could have country sides, which you will need for food production and leisure as your "multiple cities" can grow. So basically what i'm saying is, unlike simcity4's regions, i just want a planet to build cities in and i dont want seperate cities in that region/planet.
BUT that would take up too much friggin computer power that only the pentagon will be able to run it.

So i just want one city to effect the other, because i hate seeing on the region map these clear differences between the two cities. One side could be heavily polluted right next to it could be a suburban city, and right next to that i could have a major urban center. It just LOOKS strange, but thats all that matters now. The simcity series have basically reached perfection except for how things LOOK! In the end that all that really matters when you play simcity.

In that way the A6 A7 Artdink series were very good, in that if you were successful with you railroads your cities actually looked good, unlike the simcity ones where even if you work extremely hard your city still looks extremely unnatural.

I hope that the next version of SimCity would be more "globalized", I mean: lots, really lots of residential and commercial buildings from all around the world - north and latin american, european, african and asian style buildings, so that you almost don't have annoying repeated buildings next to each other.

For me the transportation options doesn't need major updates... the biggest thing to improve maybe is more flexibility to build custom cloverleafs, switches and intersections in the highways, high speed rails, maglevs... also, reasonable commuting times would be great.

Cities could be more specialized into one main funcition - your metropolis could be a global financial center, a tax-free bank paradise, a touristic destination, etc. This could be made by managing taxes, and many other ways.
