Detroit is such a romantic historic American city. I really hope and pray it will get back on it feet and remake itself the great city that it's once was. As for what the government had done for Detroit? well they did bail out GM and Chrysler. If it wasn't for the government, Detroit would be in a worst situation than it is now.
Detroit is like New Orleans; lovely city but it crimes, unwilling populations, and business structure prevent it from getting to the top.

Some fabulous updates from Detroit.
Such fine looking houses and buildings - what a terrible shame to see so many disused and unloved.

the opulence of the city is quite evident through those beautifully built huge houses, the white marbled fountains and the high rise art decos...

Detroit is one great looking city, no doubt about that and I'm still hoping that one day she will rise again to prominence like that proverbial golden phoenix.

Detroit. September 2012

Woodward Avenue and Grand Circus Park

The Hotel Charlevoix is the yellowish building below. The prick who owns it, one Mr. Sachs I believe, has owned it for the last 30 years and has failed to maintain the structure. As a result it may be leveled for guess what? Parking! Yes folks, that's right, parking. Because hey, that's the one thing Detroit seems to lack! *rolls eyes*

The city has history and great buildings and has great potential. American is too often 'accused' of having little worthwhile history but this city could be a major player but only if it regenerates using its historic buildings and does not knock them flat for cheaper alternatives. I could easily see it as a unesco heritage site and that would help bring a lot of money in tourism
