I like this project for a few reasons but mainly it's the fact that this style of packed-in behemoths is giving the Arab world a certain architectural distinction.

To me , it only looks bad from an outside perspective. Granted , it's not particularly attractive (bland at best) but it's not really anything different from what already exists. The only difference is that it's bigger.

HOLY S*** this is just too many buildings in one project, like come on 21 supertalls suddenly give it to mecca? It could beat dubai easily.

Wow. Just wow. All of these in Mecca. Imagine how expensive those residential buildings would be. If the government wants it, Mecca will easily dwarf Dubai...

All we need now are some sand people and it would look like a Hollywood set.

not sure what exactly is U/C, but something is U/C. Maybe just a metro station, maybe our project, no idea. someone who is from the region might be able to put some insight into this.

EDIT: late 2015 update, it was a street that was U/C there! Still stuff U/C behind the street however

on google earth you can use the timeline option to see what is happening. on march you can see that there is clearly something U/C and on juni you see that it just was a gib street right behind Abraj Al Bait!
