I remember reading a few years ago an article reading the pretty bad state of properties in the historical center of Lisbon. Looking at the last few pages, there seems to be a great deal of renovations going on.

What do Lisboners think about it? Have you guys seen a surge of renovations in recent years?

Yap, it was one of the few thing that have improved a lot with the crisis in Portugal.

No doubt! A number of factors have contributed to that:
- Lower demand for new construction in the suburbs;
- Changes in laws that prevented landlords from updating rents (mostly) in historical areas;
- Increased effort and investment into historical areas by the city council (eg. roads/streets, pavements, parks, services, etc.);
- Historical buildings were gradually freed up as older low rent tenants passed away.
