Wow man ! This is the reason I guess for which people make their trip to China every year. After all its a fact that everyone wants to visit to the place which is highly rich in its traditions, trends, natural scenarios and sights and delicious foods. I really am highly impressed and enjoyed watching all the photos.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned or shown Mount Taishan... the Holy Mountain in China.... it's
a pilgramage route, and there are 7,000 steps of a massive staircase that take you to the temple at
the top. Pilgrims wait until dawn to watch the sun rising above the horizion.

Some pilgrims take along heavy weights on their way up the 5,000 ft. mountain.... as a sort of
atonement....

7000 steps up carrying all that.... I don't think so....

image hosted on flickr

Here's another example of where carrying a heavy load (in this case 2 people carrying a 3rd) is a part
of the ritual for some...

image hosted on flickr

Just looking at these images is exhausting....

Finally... you get to the top....

________________________________________

From the statistics I found about China's most sacred of 5 mountains....
1) there are 11 gates
2) there are 14 archways
3) there are 4 pavilions
4) there are 22 temples
5) there are 14 kiosks
6) there are 97 ruins
7) there are 819 stone tablets
8) there are 1,018 clffside inscriptions
9) a total of 72 Emperors have visited since 1000 BC.

You know... these images really do say a lot... we (those of us who are) American.... is it any wonder
why we're considered obese and out of shape... these images sort of shows it in a sense... imagine if
this mountain were in the USA... how many do you think would climb it? We'd all want to take the
cable car to the top (there is a "cog railway" on the backside of the mountain for foreigners)... but
these images should be "Poster Children" about why generally Americans aren't the longest living
people in the world... we'll wait 10 minutes with the car idling waiting for a close spot near the mall
entrance....

Twin Pavilion, built in year 1741, located Beijing Tiantan Park.
http://www.lvwo.com/bbs/viewthread.php?tid=20583
