Hmm........ Shenzen, nice town
![]() The Venice of the East? I love the Chinese pagoda's, temples, houses and buildings like that. I like the roofes of the historical Chinese buildings. Shenzen is something the Chinese Commie Government didn't destroyed (and don't let it be destroyed). I hate the communist grey blocks they build there in China, which destroys China's cultural view Besides.....When is there finally an revolution in China like in the Arabian World?

Chengde Imperial Summer Villa -2
The Mountain Resort is known to be at least 3 degrees Celsius cooler than Chengde City itself. More and more visitors come here in order to escape the heat. A vast complex of palaces and administrative and ceremonial buildings. Temples of various architectural styles and imperial gardens blend harmoniously into a landscape of lakes, pastureland and forests. photos taken on July 2011 http://dcbbs.zo.com.cn/78/167_773060.html ![]() ![]() ![]()

Chengde Imperial Summer Villa -3
The Mountain Resort is most famous for the 72 scenic spots . Many of the scenic spots around the resort's lake area were copied from famous landscaped gardens in Southern China. http://dcbbs.zol.com.cn/63/84_623770.html ![]()

Chengde Imperial Summer Villa -6
The Chengde Mountain Resort is found in a long and narrow ravine by the Wulie River in the Yanshan Mountains. The resort itself is enclosed with a 10-kilometre-long, 13-metre-wide stone wall that runs up and down the terrain in a way reminiscent of the Great Wall. The resort itself falls into two parts, palaces and gardens. http://dcbbs.zo.com.cn/78/167_773060.html ![]() ![]() http://dcbbs.zo.com.cn/76/752_754508.html ![]() http://dcbbs.zo.com.cn/77/752_760416.html ![]() ![]() 135 Last edited by HKG; August 6th, 2012 at 07:09 PM. |

Taoping Diaolou Buildings. Also called the Qiang Towers. They were built by the Qiang Ethnic Group of China. They are located in Western Sichuan province.
Many of these towers are centuries old. They have withstood at least three major earthquakes. They say modern construction is deficient when compared to the construction of these towers. Towers generally go all the way to bedrock while new construction no. Also, the tower is wider at the base and gets less wide has you go up. They say all this helps the towers to withstands earthquakes. They might get cracks but thats it. Seem ancient builders knew what they were doing. Quote:
