Once you get to about 525m it becomes challenging to build extra habitable, non-mechanical, non-architectural element, non-spire, floors.
Burj gets to 585 with the top floor but all the others seem to have a cap of 525 and then architectural elements are stacked on top. |

the design is good, but the spire is too tall for my taste

That above SSP diagram for the top 10 in the world has a lot of mistakes. The wrong design for Goldin Finance 117 and CTF Binhai Center. Plus the Pentominium shouldn't be included. Not to mention Greenland Center in Wuhan is missing plus another 4 or 5 buildings that will be finished in the next 4-6 years.
Basically in 5 years only 4 or 5 of those towers will actually be in the top 10. This kind of rapid turnover in the top 10 is an excellent sign of things to come.

That model isn't right, look at the dome, in the pic it is much more to the right of the stadium then in the model.

rejection is from the opposition party, government accused of luxurious spending.. the project has been approved by city hall last I heard.. at current rate construction will only start after Malaysia's next general election, due in a couple of months.. that is if the present government will still hold on to the power it has assumed for more than half a century . worthy to mention that when Petronas Towers were under construction the project received similar opposition but the construction carried on, towers then completed and instantly became Malaysia's icon and pride.
