I'm generally not a fan of spires in modern skyscrapers as they are often uninspired sticks used to claim the sky.

But this spire actually works!!!

The design of the building, viewed from the bottom up, seems to suggest that the spire is the follow through of and the pinnacle of the design. The last most recent renderings show an integrated design and I think it's great.

This thread should be sticky as much as Wuhan Greenland Center thread already is.

This thread is not sticky because this is not as far along as Greenland center. I remember that thread was pretty dead when it was just a hole in the ground

I think this whole mega tall section is pointless and dumb. Should be wiser to increase supertalls to 350m if there were too many threads.

What? Supertalls have always been 300m+ and no weird idea is going to change that. Stop trying to reclassify existing definitions.

Agree, we also don't redefine the length of a kilometer just because our cars or trains are faster than 100 years ago.
Buildings getting taller, and because of that there's the megatall category.

I totally disagree. The classification should reflect the era. 300m is quite common these days. Back in the 80's if this forum was around there would of only been 2 supertall threads for the whole decade. Back then anything over 230m was a supertall.

The system of classification does reflect the era. It has evolved to include a new and necessary category - megatall. Supertall has a recognised meaning and can't be changed by a minority opinion on this forum. It's absurd. As absurd as redefining 6 foot 6 inches as the new 6 foot because 6 foot used to be really tall for a man.

My initial impression was not very positive - it just felt disjointed and abrupt with all the various scaled triangular shapes. But the more I look at it, the more I really start to like it - especially some of the more slender angles and folds and the profile looking at the narrow edge.

Couple of thoughts...

1) Hopefully they don't VE the clad antenna.

2) Still not feeling the massive base...I get that the shapes fit with the tower(s) but it feels too chunky to me. That huge glass-domed atrium in the middle could be really interesting though.

This project doesn't have the classic vertical skyscraper lines/setbacks of CTF, the sculptural beauty of ST or the delicate detailing of Petronas or Jin Mao - but it does looks like a tour-de-force of a project that's going to make one helluva an impact on the KL skyline.
