Cool

I'm not making any points at all, other than looking at the raw high rise building facts here, nothing else.

After almost six months the Civic Trust planning applications details have been updated. Contains interesting information - mostly not new.

Fred - as a member of the Civic Trust (I think?) do you know why the website has become so rarely updated these days?

At one time it used to be updated about every month. Almost exactly a year ago I wrote complaining and received this reply:

"Thank you for your note to the Trust regarding the website. You are right to be disappointed. As the person responsible for its creation and subsequent upkeep, I can only apologise for not keeping it as up to date recently as I would have liked. Following a change in my work commitments I have not had the time I used to have, but we are in the process of transferring the responsibility for its upkeep to the Trust office where it will be done a great deal more efficiently, I hope.
Thank you for your interest and for keeping us on our toes!"

Unfortunately, since then it has been updated even less frequently and with the latest update (12th January) it has been almost six months since the last (22 July).
To be fair, the people involved are all voluntary members of the Trust. However, I used to consult the site often to get up to date news but Skyscrapercity Forum is now far better for the latest information.

I think any site like this where there's user uploaded content will give more information quicker, although often not reliable.

Like it or not, it shows Manchester is the high rise king, the UK's second city. How does Leeds do?, in third I reckon just ahead of Liverpool.

.....that's very good but it has no pictures.

Well. I dont think we do; we have enough. Especially Ian Simpson style. Bridgewater Place provides an alternative skyscraper to the clone Beethams in other cities.

Well said No.1 ! Although I do like the Ian Simpson style, especially if it's an origional and not a fake.

So do I; but its very much the same; and if we are to get two twin tower schemes in his style, why would we want any more? Unless its a Beetham with a different design. *cough*kitetower*cough*

Hey that's 2 for the price of 1 and the smaller towers are at least 100m + !
but hey yeah ! I'll go for a single Simo tower, tower 1 plus tower 2 on top !

Hey I'm 100 today !

oh good lol.

No im not complaining that we're getting them; but for future schemes Id rather see different designs to Ian Simpson style.

Linfoot is Leeds's own 'Beetham'

Was in Liverpool today and looking at their Beetham 2 (40 storeys). It's looking really impressive with much cladding on now. It's like another Beetham Manchester in scale and 'wow' factor, although perhaps a more friendly shape, looking great and perhaps a taste of what is to come in Leeds next.

I just posted this thread on the Birmingham forum and noticed it needs updating. Lumiere, The Plaza, Opal, The Gateway need updating/adding particularly.

7 new talls imminent for Birmingham which will top that list soon.

Twin SHT, BST, Pinnacle, AC and twin towers at New Street.

The first post desperately needs updating, it's just a matter of finding the time. My new OU course starts in a week or two, then time will be even more scarce until October. If you can wait until then ... or someone else can update it.

Whitby is on the banner today, can we claim it as 'local'?

Of course. But what's the connection with skyscrapers? Is it signficant that many of the banners celebrate nationalism (independence days and such like) rather than buildings.
