Article released by Xinhua.
http://news.xinhuanet.com/photo/2010...c_12695406.htm

Wow, really?

124 square metres sounds really small, does it mean a 124m square?
also 7-11 people, 7000-11000 people?

Interesting idea though, people living and working in the same building.
I am not quite sure how a 666m building can not be a landmark building though!

Seems like a bit of a pipe dream. I'd love to see it built though.

Anyway if they don't release more credible stuff within a few weeks we should forget about this project. Sounds like a mere vision proposal to me

I'll delete the thread in one month or so unless we get more details.

OK, thanks. I thought those numbers seemed a bit strange.

666m seems a bit small for a building used as a city doesn't it? I mean the shanghai tower is already 632m... Most proposals for buildings of this function are at least 1000m with some going upwards of 4000m. All visions obviously. Check out X-seed 4000

isn't 4 the bad luck number in china?

so a tower that is 444m in china would be very bad.

also, the article says "Well-known architectural design firm representatives and experts were invited to attend", which suggests the design in the picture is definitely a place holder, and only to show how big it will be.

Not in Shanghai, please. Anywhere else, I'd be happy. Something of this size will only steal attention from the elegant skyline in Luijiazui.

Well, great China, so great you use Chicago instead of Shanghai to market stuff.... uh... can't think of anything else.

a. Looks terrible.
b. 666? Really?

I do like the 888 idea- in fact I think we shall see it soon.

That is just a poor design, almost to the point of cheap. Take a look at the Shanghai Tower and take notes before you design.
