At first glance, it looks like the straight edges are the outside of the building, but after measuring in Google Earth, they clearly aren't.
making a few assumptions, this is what I have come up with:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
That is a HUGE construction site!

Huge or not I'd only wish it was an active construction site. From the lack of updates lately I guess it's still on hold

Most of it will be green space (~90%). I think they're using the dug-out soils for 'landscaping'.

So has the clock started on the mythical "90 days" claim yet?

It seems like this thing is falling apart before it even gets put together
I really hope they can get it all figured out and get this thing off the ground. Can't you just pay people off in China

No, I think it will start next April, when the structure starts to rise.

Well, it's chances always have been rather slim- I think a lot of people always saw this as a pipe dream. Just that it actually has a chance of being built is enough of a cause for excitement.

As much as I'd like to think you are wrong, so far, It looks like you may be right. I'd love to see this tower get built, but man, they aren't doing anything to prove you wrong. To me, It just makes no sense to spend thousands of dollars to push some dirt around. I hope they get it worked out

If the Asians can't do it it won't get done period nobody else is going to put their money where their mouth is.

The Chinese don't spend their time wondering about what if..

To me site preparation is part of a building "Starting to rise" and should always be counted in the construction timeline.

But they don't build a part of the tower during the Preperation. So it's not really part of the construction of the tower itself

The main motivation for this project is the ~U$1 billion in potential profits for the 'investors'.

But you can't build without site prep so prep is part of building.

I suspect intentions of you and some other people posting in this thread are different than construction nomenclature accuracy so let me ask you this. Do you consider 1wtc being 12 years in construction cause that's quite a lot for an 400m tower if you ask me

I think trying to build the tallest building in the world in a record breaking time is somewhat arrogant, somewhat revolutionizing. I mean, it's not a great design (I'm being nice to the building), but this could be some kind of test to confirm the Q10 Hotel's time (I'm not sure of the name).

At least this thing isn't twice as tall as Burj Khalifa. THAT would be arrogant.
