This one will obviously get more scrutiny.

The LAST thing anyone wants is this thing to be unsound.

Also they are likely looking at making the process from Pro to T/O, be one that is rigorous because if this thing works then replicating it will be possible and they will want all of the steps codified and solid and well-scrutinised so that the process can be copied.

They did that? Interesting.

I wonder when this thing will actually be built. Maybe it's just not time for us to build a building like this. At least not so casually.

A building like this should go up with great fanfare. Not from 90 days to seven months. Seven months is WAY too short for a building like this.

The Burj Khalifa, which is SHORTER than this building by a little bit, took 6 years to complete. It literally started when Taipei 101 was built, leaving Taipei 101 with 6 glorious years. But if THIS was built right after Taipei 101, Taipei 101 wouldn't hold the title for more than a year.

Having a building like this being built so suddenly is surprising. Patience is a virtue, so I guess that's what all of us are learning right now.

Where did you hear this information from? Just because we haven't heard anything recently, doesn't mean it's on hold. Unless you got some credible info?? We haven't seen an update on Kingdom Tower lately, but that doesn't mean it's on hold. I'm sure there is something going on somewhere in regards to Sky City.

Really. I wouldn't expect any SSC members to live in Changsha to take pictures for us. Just because there are few updates doesn't mean nothing is happening. We're just a little in the dark at the moment.

So who's going to move to Changsha? How about L.A.F.2? Then, you can take pictures for us!

It's better than Albany, but I don't want to learn Mandarin. Sorry.

I have to disagree. From the start of the superstructure to the top out, this building should be far faster. You would be right if they were using standard building practices, but in this is anything but standard. This is pre-fab. If only they'd get the go ahead.

I know Mandarin, but New York is better than Changsha. Sorry.

But seriously, I speak fluent Mandarin.

It IS on hold according to this nytimes article from month back already posted in this thread.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/28/re...RdiN7OvZOUXISQ

But it's not indefinitely on hold as some wants it. They expected 2 two three months delay. That is one or two from now.

Quote:
On Tuesday, the tycoon behind the project said in a telephone interview that he had ordered a pause in work at the site while waiting for further approvals from regulators in Beijing.

“It’s because of all the concern in the media and on the Internet, the government is a little wary and has slowed down the process,” said Zhang Yue, the chairman of the Broad Group.

But he vowed to finish the building, saying that he expected a delay of no more than two to three months, with completion of the building in June or July next year instead of the original plan of finishing it in April. Workers have already dug a large hole in the ground for the foundations and have just laid a four-lane road to the site to bring in heavy equipment.

See? The architect vowed he would finish the building. He's either arrogant or persistent. I think he's more persistent than arrogant, but everyone's a little arrogant at times.

If you are not persistent then don't bother doing anything in China.

I found this article about the 30 story hotel. The utilitarian outside appearance hides a quite competently designed interior.

I think Broad Sustainable Energy Group should look
into the technology behind what Nicola Tesla and other great scientist
were working on. They were trying to create or created a more
sustainable energy production without the use of fossil fuels. I saw this video on youtube which spoke about that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEV5AFFcZ-s
