Plenty of people here read Chinese or at least use Google Translate looking at various Chinese forums. Many of the pics in the China updates come from those forums originally.

If there were pics they would be shown here within days.

Huge mistake by CTBUH. This project is not a vision, in case they wont ever build it I would label it as "cancelled" since they even started ground works.

I think we should lock this thread till there's some reason to think the project is alive. 2500+ posts and 90% is shit.

Tower was going to be build in a protected wetland and it was officially cancelled. Thanks to KillerZavatar for providing the link.

Quote:
Some dreams just aren't meant to be.
Back in 2013, Broad Sustainable Construction (BSC) gained approval to begin construction on Sky City -- a 838-meter skyscraper that would be the world's tallest building, besting Burj Khalifa in Dubai by a mere 10 meters.
According to the plans that BSC drew up, the 5.2 billion yuan super tower in Changsha, Hunan province, would have 92 elevators and a 6-mile long ramp running between the floors. They estimated that construction would take 7 months (after originally proposing to do it in just 90 days).
It's been a little over 7 months since then, and still no world's tallest building in Changsha. What's the hold up? Well, a mere three days after work began it was halted by officials because BSC "did not complete the required procedures for seeking approval to start construction." Whoops.
It turns out that the site where BSC was trying to build the world's tallest building is now a protected wetlands where nothing can be built, causing Sky City plans to be put on hold, People's Daily reports. Whoops again.
