838 Confirmed

The height of this project will be 838m including mast. 737m to the roof. 220 floors. This is all I can say for now.

3.35m per level floor storey is very very low compared to most other structures.

How stupid. The mast does not even look like a spire. Its just a random huge antenna. (At least on the perspective given us)

Thanks for the contribution in this thread. Your insights are usually good sign for the project.

I get what you mean, but on another hand sky city is way more massive than burj and its spire is pretty much as wide as burjs so wouldn't it be unfair to not count it? So you see it's really hard to determine what deserves what these days, thats why they counts everything.

Other than that they claim SkyCity targets for affordable priced appartaments for middle/low class people. So since luxury isn't part of the concept appartaments can have low ceillings.

As mentioned earlier in this thread. What this tower is is basically a super large version of a commie block. It is technologically more advanced (multiple layer cladding, air conditioning systems etc etc...) but the idea is still the same: to provide effective and cheap space to accommodate effectively as many people as possible. Only I think this thing if build will work much better than traditional commies with all that amenities and integrated functions. And what impress me the most is that it has real chance for introdussing vertical living for the very first time.

a lot of projects had this vertical living concept, but all of them failed financing. This project is a big project and it is quite visionary, but it is one of the few projects that seem to be at least possible, not in the time they claim, but from the size it seems doable. I just hope this project gets approval and they can start trying to write history. If this project fails or not, i am sure this ultimate test for the new technology will give new ideas to the construction sector.

Well, your right that the "spires" size is ok in relation to the buildings volume, still I feel a bit unconfortable about it. Burj Khalifa is going to have a hard time handling over that record.

Yeah, I'm getting sick and tired of projects sticking poles on top of flat roofs to gain height.

That's why many forumers, including me would like the measurement system to be changed

True. Spire on flat roof is the cheapest way of gaining height. But what can you do. If burj is counted to the tip this one has to be as well.

it has Kanto, that are the offical rules. I also hate it when spires just gain height, but spire is spire...and so it has to be counted.

well how can you change it, what is considered a flat roof? what it it has a little bump on it or is angled? changing it only makes it more complicated than it is already.

and after all i wouldn't mind this being the tallest building, after all it also has the highest occupated floor and the highest floor cound (both will stay record even after kingdom tower is finished).

Thats the thing. How you decide which building truly deserves to be taller? There is no doubt skycity has "more building" to its height rather than burj, so in a way it deserves to be listed taller, even though spire on burj looks much better.

Why not? Burj Khalifa has a top floor at about 585 metres and this proposal would have a top floor of, by the drawing, 650 to 700 metres.

Clearly BK was constructed so that the top 250 metres was just to build a huge spire and make the building tall. It's all mechanical, air and spire.
