And/or more space to sell. It's not just any "height" but the tallest that they were after (I think mainly for marketing reason).

This building is the purest form of domination that exists, the less tall buildings around it, the better it will look. I am still skeptical as to the speed and cost of construction but if this building would be built, it would be the greatest marvel ever accomplished by mankind. The pyramids at Giza would look like child's play compared to it. It would be the tallest and most beautiful building in the world and even more importantly, it would bring skyscrapers to common people, not just the super rich ones. Most people don't like right angles and straight lines as much as I do but for me this building is the absolute embodiment of all my dreams

Not sure if this has been posted before. It is a visit of CTBUH Executive Director Anthony Wood to the Broad Group Facility

Great article. Also it includes better quality pictures of most recent design. Many of us forget that this is NOT the final design.

This one is. They differ quite a lot:

it is a real proposal, if it will become a vision is another question. i stay skeptical even after the foundation is laid unless they change their statements to something more realistic like topping it out in 18 months without considering cladding and foundation, just the erecting.

honestly i think the best they could do is go out into a city and try a 200m one, see how it goes and do another 230m one, and maybe then make a supertall if they feel brave and see how it works out.

A supertall built out of shipping containers.....interesting!! should be fairly easy actually. imagine building a lego skyscraper except all of the individual pieces are already wired up and includes pipes for water etc.. each block just kinda plugs into the next one and bam before you know it your 2700ft in the sky.

That's what it says, the J220 plot near Daze Lake.

This one is. They differ quite a lot:

The old one was far better. But the new one is still more beautiful than any other building in the world except for the Willis Tower

i think i like the + shape more than the x shape, but that's probably just my own preferances. also with the + design it looks slimmer, which i like more, since it still is amazingly massive.

The new design looks marginally better, but it's still incredibly hideous.
If the setbacks weren't so big, it would look much better and sleeker.
