Well, one things for sure, it is the Weird Al version of the Burj Khalifa in terms of "Whatever you Like."

If they say that... I guess the building must be already aproved.

210 days to build something like this would still be incredible! November can't come any closer.

Wow, if this is completed by then, I would expect China to move on to even more ambitious projects, skies the limit for them

Can't believe how few people are talking about this project compared to other supertalls on this forum. Maybe it's because of the lack of news updates about it or the fact that it seems so unbelievable. This would have seemed exactly like the project most of us that like this sort of thing would dream to happen in our lifetime. 220 stories in 120 days.

I live a 5 minute walk away from the Pingan IFC construction site in Shenzhen and they have been toying with it for the last few years. Heavy construction started about a year ago and even now it is only a few floors above the ground. Construction costs are high and progress is very slow.

Imagine the number of cost efficient, energy efficient, and time efficient skyscrapers that could be built using this technology if BSB is able to pull this off. Forget about Pingan IFC, Shanghai Tower, or all the other supertall construction projects currently underway (or for that matter ones that have already been completed like the Burj Khalifa); this is the project could alter the future of urban building construction and design for a generation to come.

1/9th the time, less than half the cost, and seemingly more earthquake resistant. A lot is talked about China's four historical inventions: gun powder, compass, paper-making, and the printing press. Could the processes and innovations used it construct the world's tallest building in only 120 days be China's next great historical innovation and first of the modern era? If it actually happens, then why not?

This is the project everyone on these boards should actually be following. I live 5 minutes from Pingan IFC but I'm 100% more excited about this Sky City project and it's potential for real innovation.

I 1000% agree with you. This project, if successful will be the biggest story of the millennium

No, the biggest story of the millennium will be Mars One of course.
New worlds are what we aspire to.

Anyway, SkyCity will certainly be astonishing. I'm excited to see if they can be at least somewhat close to their schedule.
I'm almost certain they won't do it in 210 days, but I bet they'll still be pretty damn fast with their technique.

Yes, this is the project could alter the future, but... not the better. Very simple design. Who will build beautiful buildings of 6 or 7 years, when you can build a huge box for three months?

Well, I love boxes so for me it is purely a positive change. But the fact that I love most is that if successful this would drastically increase the availability of tall buildings. Places, which previously never dreamed of a really tall building could get one and even common people might be able to afford living in one

Yes, and it's really good. But I dream about inexpensive skyscrapers with beautiful design

The scary thing is, it's not even 210 days they are shooting for. It's 120 days.

Maybe the biggest story of November 2012. Definitely not the millennium. Since this is in China, everyone will admire it. If it were a few hundred miles east in north Korea, it would be instantly dubbed the ugliest building in the world. That's how it works.

Are there any pictures of the site?
